As shown on last night's episode of "Teen Mom OG" — which she was almost fired from — Amber is seen talking about how it went afterward with her mother.
Amber Went To Have Dinner With Her Daughter And Ex
Portwood has had a rocky relationship with her 12-year-old daughter Leah, who she had as a teenager when the show was first premiered on MTV.
The little girl lives with her father, Amber's ex Gary Shirley, and his wife Kristina.
After months of them not spending time together, Gary decided that it was time to end their separation, and he invited Amber over to have dinner at their house.
This is despite the tense relationship that Amber and Kristina have.
Gary said he wanted Leah to see her mom more, and to have a relationship with her half-brother James, who Amber shares with another ex.
Amber spoke with a producer before and said "I can't wait to see Leah. Don't care if she looks at me, rolls her eyes and goes upstairs. I don't give a f***, as long as I see her and say, 'I love you, bye.'
She Spoke About How The Dinner Went Afterward
Amber's meeting at the Shirley residence was not filmed, due to legal restrictions with her other son being on camera.
So viewers did not get to see the interaction unfold, but they did get to hear Amber talk about it afterward.
She spoke in an on-camera interview and said she was happy to take the first step with Leah "work to build our relationship back."
After that, Amber called her mom and talked about how it went, saying "it really felt kind of fine."
She explained that she thinks Leah had a hard time seeing her after so long.
"With Leah, it was a little awkward for her for me being there. But I think with time, it will be a little better," Portwood said.
She added that the relationship between her, Gary, and Kristina also seemed to be improving and that she thinks they can eventually get to a stable place.
