Danny Masterson played Steven Hyde in That '70s Show, but he will not appear in Netflix’s That '90s Show. His absence in the reboot is due to the allegations of rape placed against him by three women in 2017. At the time the accusations were made, Masterson was written out of Netflix’s The Ranch, which he starred in alongside Ashton Kutcher.

The assaults occurred in 2001 and 2003, and Masterson was on trial in 2022 for rape after he pled not guilty. He faced up to 45 years in prison, but the trial was ruled a mistrial. It is currently unclear if there will be a re-trial.

Mila Kunis is now married to Ashton Kutcher. The two first met on That '70s Show, but they did not start a relationship until their adult lives. Their marriage in real life inspired the writers of That '90s Show to have their characters end up together.

Kunis was not thrilled about this decision. “My husband and I are together in [the new show], which is weird because we shouldn’t have been,” Kunis told Variety. Though her character had a relationship with Kutcher’s in That '70s Show, Kunis ended up with Wilmer Valderrama’s character Fez. “You know what, I called B.S. I was like, ‘My character would be with Fez.’"
