There aren’t too many actors in this day and age that come close to touching what Brad Pitt has done during his time as a film star. The man has worked with Quentin Tarantino, starred in countless blockbuster hits, and has had a thriving career even without playing a superhero at some point.

Pitt’s emotional range on the big screen is impressive, but away from the cameras, the actor doesn’t cry too often. However, there was once an animated movie that was so moving, the star couldn’t help but shed a tear.

So, which animated film was it? Let’s take a look and see find out.

Brad Pitt Is An Oscar Winner

As one of the most popular actors currently working in Hollywood, Brad Pitt has seen and done it all during his time on the big screen. The man has delivered no shortage of exceptional performances, and he has even taken home an Academy Award for his work.

Because Pitt has the ability to play so many different characters, it goes without saying that he has been able to demonstrate a pretty impressive emotional range. This is something that can take actors years to get down, and Pitt has reached a point in his career where he can make anything work while the cameras are rolling.

Now, some might assume that the actor would be an emotional person when the cameras aren’t rolling due to his ability to portray different emotions, but the truth is that Pitt is not exactly one to get overly emotional or even cry all that often.

He Usually Saves His Emotions For The Big Screen

Pitt himself has admitted that away from the big screen, he is not much a crier. It seems that he tends to save those types of emotions for his performances, but there have been instances of the star getting misty. In fact, once incident took place while he was filming with Quentin Tarantino, who played “California Dreamin,” which reminded Pitt of his first foray into Los Angeles.

According to Pitt, “You know, when I first moved out here, it was the summer of ’86 and I didn’t know [expletive]-all about Los Angeles. I landed in Burbank at a house I could crash at for a month or so. … Man, I was just so up for the adventure, and so excited when I’d drive by a studio where they make movies. It meant the world to me.”

“I swear to God, I had to hide a tear. Look, I’m not ashamed to say it. I got a little misty,” he continued.

This, of course, was just one time that Pitt was nearly brought to tears on set. However, there have been at least two movies that have made him cry, one of which is an animated classic.

‘How To Train Your Dragon’ Made Him Cry

How to Train Your Dragon was a massive success upon its release, and it kickstarted an entire franchise of films. They have plenty of emotional highs and lows, and at one point, the first film in the franchise made Brad Pitt cry.

According to Pitt, “In the end, he lost his leg and they're living in harmony with the dragons … it got me.”

Turns out, it wasn’t just this amazing film that made him cry. During a trip to Cabo in which he got sick, Life as a House also made him cry.

About that trip and film, Pitt said, “I’m not much of a crier at films. I’ll tear up every now and then but I’m not much of a crier. This was a time when I actually wept at a film. I was coming back from Cabo and I had to go to … I think Montreal. I’m not really sure where I was. I could not keep anything down. I was stuck in this hotel room wiht no windows. It was on day two of this extremely painful episode and this film came on.”

“He’s an architect and he’s terminal, and he decides he’s going to finish this house and reconcile – he’s estranged from his son, his teenage son. I don’t know if it would still hit me the same way. But you know, on my 27th hour of just pure wretchedness, this movie crushed me, just crushed me, what he was saying to his son,” he continued.
