Chris Evans is on top of the world these days, enjoying the spoils that come with being one of the biggest and most likable stars around. Getting in good with the MCU changed everything for Evans, and he has been a hot commodity ever since picking up Cap's shield for the first time.

Evans has amazing projects on tap, and with a lot to look forward to, fans are ready for the next stage of his career.

Before the actor was able to become the major name that he is now, he was still climbing the ranks in Hollywood. During that time, he had an audition for a big movie, but Ben Affleck played a part in things breaking down. Let's hear all about what happened!

Chris Evans Has Had A Huge Career

At the moment, Chris Evans is one of the most popular actors in all of Hollywood. This, of course, is largely thanks to the incredible work that he did in the MCU as Captain America.

Evans' time as Steve Rogers began back in 2011, and it officially came to an end in 2019.

When speaking on playing the lovable hero, Evans said, "It was the best decision I've ever made. And I really owe that to Kevin Feige for being persistent and helping me avoid making a giant mistake. To be honest, all the things that I was fearing never really came to fruition."

During his MCU era, he starred in some of the biggest blockbuster hits of all time, but his Hollywood story doesn't just feature impressive work in superhero movies. The actor has also been in notable films like Not Another Teen Movie, Fantastic Four, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Snowpiercer, and recently, he has been in movies like Knives Out and Free Guy.

Evans has been on an amazing ride since becoming a breakout star, but even he is not immune from one of the toughest parts of show business.

Chris Evans Hasn't Always Had Things Go His Way

Missing out on opportunities is simply part of the entertainment industry. No matter how big a performer is, it is legitimately impossible to score every single role that you want. Chris Evans has certainly missed out on some coveted roles during his Hollywood journey.

According to NotStarring, Evans has been up for roles in movies like Elizabethtown and Milk.

For Milk, the role that Evans was up for ultimately went to James Franco, who did a great job with it. The film was a critical darling that took home the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Unfortunately, the missed opportunities don't end there for Chris Evans. In fact, he lost out on a notable film largely because of Ben Affleck

How Ben Affleck Affected Evans' 'Gone Baby Gone' Audition

So, how did Ben Affleck impact Chris Evans' audition for the film Gone Baby Gone? Well, as it turns out, Evans was completely starstruck by Affleck.

"I walked in and I'm walking down the halls looking for this room, and as I passed a room I heard, 'There he is.' In my head I was like, 'That's Ben.' I turned around and it was, and for some reason, I instantly was nervous. I went in and shook his hand, and the first thing I said was, 'Hey, how ya doing — am I gonna be ok where I parked?' And he said, 'Where'd you park?' And I said, 'At one of the meters.' And he said, 'Did you put money in it?' And I said, 'Yeah.' And he said, 'I think you'll be all right,'" Evans said.

Unfortunately for the future MCU star, things did not get much better from there.

"From that moment, I just wanted to get the f--- out of the room. I just wanted to be anywhere but there. I sat down with my heart beating out of my chest, I was so mortified that I started this meeting off that way. I started giving him one-word answers," he added.

As you can imagine, Evans' audition didn't go well, and he panicked his way through without getting the gig.

"They put me in a rocking chair, so I'm just rocking and twisting, just nervous. 'So, what was your last movie like?' 'Good.' 'What was it like to work with Danny Boyle?' 'Good.' I just wanted to get out of there. It was horrible, a complete disaster. So obviously, I did not get that job," he said.
