The Bachelor universe is a very white place; the popular Instagram account Two Black Girls One Rose even calls the popular reality program, “the whitest show on Earth.”

Former contestant Taylor Nolan was once a champion for diversity and inclusivity within Bachelor Nation. The mental health consultant from Washington state was a vocal supporter of the casting of more BIPOC contestants; she has also used her platform to spread awareness about sexual violence and gender.

Now, some of Taylor’s tweets from the past have come to light. The content is offensive to people of many groups, including BIPOC, women, sexual assault survivors, mental health patients, and people with disabilities, among others. Basically, these tweets are a universal, virtual trigger warning.

Fans are mostly hurt and confused.

Breaking Down Taylor Nolan’s Tweets

Taylor has dedicated the last several years of her life to becoming an advocate for change in Bachelor Nation. She has amplified Black voices. She has educated her followers about women’s sexuality, and has condemned sexual violence.

However, a Reddit mega thread has dug up some of Taylor’s past tweets and shared the screenshots. The content is markedly disturbing.

In one, the current psychologist shared racist views regarding “Indian guys” who she mocked for their presence in nightclubs. In another, she encouraged a Twitter user to commit acts of sexual violence.

Perhaps the most disturbing tweet, however, is one in which Taylor claims that she will recommend suicide to certain mental health patients. In 2012, when she wrote the tweet, Taylor was in school studying to become a psychotherapist. Now, Bachelor Nation members are reporting her to the licensing board to remove her ability to practice.

Fans Feel Shocked And Betrayed

Because Taylor has largely positioned herself as a “safe space” and an advocate for marginalized communities, many of her fans have expressed feelings of betrayal.

One former fan shared her own story of abuse to the Reddit thread, “I used to look up to Taylor. As a sexual assault survivor, this really hurts.”

Several people who have struggled with mental health also revealed the hurt that they experienced upon reading Taylor’s words. “Wow this has to be the worst take I’ve ever seen,” wrote one user, “As someone who has BPD and OCD, this is so harmful to our community.”

Members of the Asian American community have also shared their pain. “As an Indian person, this brings me back to the days of being bullied in middle school and high school,” wrote a Reddit user.
