While Drake did not start at the bottom, given that he had made a name for himself in the entertainment industry via Degrassi before deciding to move on to the music industry, his song, "Started From the Bottom" talks about starting off with nothing and working hard to get to the top.

"I feel sometimes that people don’t have enough information about my beginnings and therefore they make up a life story for me that isn’t consistent with actual events," Drake wrote in a blog post. "I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I’m excited for this song to find a place in your life as well."

"Started From the Bottom" was critically praised. It peaked at number six on the Billboard 100, with the album, Nothing Was the Same debuting at number one.

Lil Wayne had Drake work with him on "Love Me". A song about the women in their lives and how much they adore them, just as long as the women love them back.

While the video is a loose interpretation of the song, the concept was just to create an atmosphere filled with beautiful women that any man would be happy to be in.

"The concept of the video is really just to create awesome scenery," Lil Wayne explained. "A scenery that every man… anyone wanna be in […] I appreciate Drake and Future for doin’ this because I’m quite sure they’re hella busy like I am, but I ain’t never too busy to get in a bed with three women, with water everywhere."

"Love Me" broke through the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number nine. And with over 529 million YouTube views, the video is still proving to be popular today.

Album:

Date Released:

"Only" is a song that talks about the fact that Nicki Minaj has never been intimate with either Lil Wayne or Drake. However, both confess their desire to be intimate with Minaj. Something that Drake and Lil Wayne had previously done on tracks before "Only".

The video takes place at what appears to be a camp for prisoners. Minaj and her crew are the guards there. While this is not controversial, what was, was a black and white cartoon that appeared to be anti-Semitic in nature. As such, Minaj had to apologize for the video, stating it was not her intention to be insensitive.

"The artist who made the lyric video for "Only" was influenced by a cartoon on Cartoon Network called "Metalocalypse" & Sin City." Both the producer, & person in charge of over seeing the lyric video (one of my best friends and videographer: A. Loucas), happen to be Jewish," Minaj explained.

Minaj went on to say, "I didn't come up w/the concept, but I'm very sorry and take full responsibility if it has offended anyone," she added. "I'd never condone Nazism in my art."

"Only" debuted at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 12.

Given that the video continues to be downloaded today, fans were willing to accept Minaj's apology and move on.

7 "What's My Name?" - Rihanna Feat. Drake

YouTube Views: 1.01 billion

Artist(s):

Album:

Date Released:

October 25, 2010

"What's My Name?" is a song about a man and woman who were intimate together. After this happens, the encounter is recalled by both and what an amazing time it was together.

When putting together the song, Rihanna wanted no one but Drake on the track. She was so adamant about it that Rihanna presented Drake the song while backstage at an event.

"She played the record to Drake backstage somewhere to try to get him on a verse," Tor Erik Hermansen of Stargate explained to Billboard. "She's calling me up saying, 'Where are the files?' That's one thing you don't hear often from artists on her level."

Rihanna went on to say about the situation, "Drake is the hottest rapper out right now and we've always been trying to work together. He's the only person I thought could really understand the melody of the song, and the minute he heard it he said, 'I know exactly what I'm going to do. I love it.' And he did it like three days later."

After jumping from 83 to number one on the Billboard Top 100, "What's My Name?" became Rihanna's eighth number one and Drake's first.

He wanted this whole thing to be a Houston album; he felt like Houston never really got its just due. He wanted to put it not on the map, but put the light on it."

The video for "Work" was actually shot two times. Once in the dance hall and once in the pink room. Two different shoots were never in the treatment. But after it was determined how well the pink room worked for the video, that is the direction Rihanna and the team went.

"The original 'Work' video was something completely different," director Tom Erem explained to Entertainment Weekly. "This pink room was basically just a small set-up of that whole original idea we had for it."

Erem went on to say, "They liked the pink room, but wanted something more to it. We were actually surprised how much it can carry almost the whole track. So we decided to actually go for it, and then they decided to do one more video for it and make it into two videos."

"Work" went on to be number one on the Billboard Top 100.

The concept for the video was essentially to use some money to make people's days a bit brighter. By giving away nearly $1 million to unsuspecting people in Miami, that figure may not have hurt Drake's pocketbook, but it made a difference in those who were the recipients of the cash.

"The video was a really special moment for all of us," Producer Noah "40" Shebib explained. "And possibly more real than anyone will ever understand."

"God's Plan" debuted at number one on The Billboard Top 100 and remained there for 11 weeks.

The meaning of "Life Is Good" is fairly self-explanatory from the title. Drake and Future sing about how good life is now that they are rich and famous. They can afford any and everything they want. There are no complaints about their lifestyles.

However, with the good, there is bad as well. Such as the fact that the two feel they have to struggle to remain relevant and how hard they had to work to get to the positions they are at today.

The video for "Life Is Good" shows Drake and Future working ordinary jobs, such as fast food workers chefs, mechanics, IT workers, aspiring rappers, and more. All of which are a symbol of working as hard as they can to be the best they can be in whatever industry they are in.
