Atypical is a comedy/drama Netflix series starring Keil Gilchrist as Sam, a teenage boy on the autism spectrum trying to navigate the world of dating, independence, and high school in general. While the show focuses on Sam, the show touches on the journey's of other members of his family as they navigate their own complex problems, offering commentary on everything from marriage troubles to LGBTQ topics. The show ran for four seasons, but ended before season 5.

However, throughout those four seasons, the Netflix show has been praised for its attempt to debunk myths about Asperger's Syndrome, which is the developmental disorder affecting socialization and communication that Sam struggles with throughout the show. This isn't the first time that Netflix has been praised for making efforts to inform about the condition; in fact, their show Love on the Spectrum was also praised for its attempt to combat misconceptions about autism.
