Tensions run high in Hollywood, and stars of all sizes can set themselves on a collision course for conflict. Sometimes, actors clash with other actors, clash with directors, and have some serious problems on set. These stories are always tough to read about, as it shows a different side to a famous performer.

Mike Myers has been in the public eye for years now, and while he is a genuinely hilarious performer while the cameras are rolling, it has been noted by more than a few people that Myers can be tough to work with.

Let's take a look at Myers' behavior and why one executive actively rooted for him to fail.

Mike Myers Has Been A Success

The 1990s and 2000s proved to be exceptional decades for Mike Myers, as the comedic actor was able to make a name for himself and rise to the top of Hollywood during this time. Myers was brilliant on Saturday Night Live, and once he made his way to the big screen, he wound up making bank while entertaining millions of fans.

Myers' big screen career got off to a red-hot start with Wayne's World, which is still one of the funniest movies to emerge from the 90s. The actor would also appear in movies like So I Married an Axe Murderer earlier on.

In 1997, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery became a hit and kickstarted a popular trilogy of films. Four years later, the actor would begin his time in the iconic Shrek franchise, and suddenly, Myers was a powerhouse on the big screen who was one of the most popular names in Hollywood.

Things would taper off over time, and it was quite clear that Myers' career had taken a dip. In the time since his most profitable years, a number of stories have emerged about Myers, and not all of are glowing reviews.

He Has Rubbed People The Wrong Way

As funny as he is on screen, Myers has been described as difficult to work with off-screen. Myers has allegedly clashed with people on set, including his fellow actors, some of which he had spent years working with.

Wayne's World, for instance, was a huge hit, and as great as they were on screen and on SNL together, Myers and Dana Carvey had issues while filming.

One source alleged that, "Mike didn’t want Dana in the movie because he felt insecure that someone who had his own creative ideas would get in the way."

Though this was denied and considered an overstatement, Carvey did briefly quit the film before heading back and turning in a brilliant performance.

On set, Myers was not easy, either.

Director Penelope Spheeris said, "He was emotionally needy and got more difficult as the shoot went along. You should have heard him bitching when I was trying to do that ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ scene: ‘I can’t move my neck like that! Why do we have to do this so many times? No one is going to laugh at that!”’

Stories like this have certainly painted Myers in a different light, but it should be noted that this is just one person's account. Nevertheless, it is quite telling that people began rooting for Myers to fail.

A Hollywood Exec Rooted For Him To Fail

Per EW, "Since early in his career the actor has been tagged with a reputation for being difficult to work with: moody, controlling, and arrogant. That description could, of course, fit many actors and filmmakers, but the degree of enmity directed toward Myers by some who’ve worked with him — even years after the fact — is rare. Says one executive who has had a rocky relationship with Myers: 'I honestly root against him.'"

It's pretty shocking to hear something like this be reported, but again, Myers has an alleged history of being tough to work with. Clearly, being difficult to work with has caused some serious problems with other people.

Director Thomas Schlamme, who worked with Myers on So I Married an Axe Murderer, has said, "I think Mike’s a visionary, but his way of getting what he wants is to emote and threaten and express anger. It’s not healthy for personal relations."

Fans have certainly noticed that Mike Myers isn't the box office powerhouse that he once was during the biggest years of his career, and while he did have his fair share of duds, one certainly has to wonder if his alleged behavior on set also contributed to what many have perceived as his downfall in Hollywood.
