Titled The Lockdown Sessions, the singer will team up with several big names in music at the moment: Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, and old-time legends like Stevie Wonder.

6 As The Title Suggests, 'The Lockdown Sessions' Was Made Entirely During The Pandemic Crisis

As the title of the album suggests, The Lockdown Sessions was recorded entirely during the pandemic lockdown from 2020 until now. In fact, some of the recording sessions had to be done via teleconferencing, which made the task even more challenging.

"Some of the sessions were recorded under very stringent safety regulations: working with another artist, but separated by glass screens. But all the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse," the singer said about the upcoming album.

The 16-track collection will be led by Elton John and Dua Lipa's collaboration, "Cold Heart." Remixed by Australian collective Pnau, the track incorporates a mash-up of John's "Rocket Man" (1972), "Kiss the Bride" (1983), and "Where's The Shoorah?" (1976). Up to this writing, the animated music video has almost reached the ten million YouTube views milestone. In fact, the collaborative track helped the "Rocketman" return to Billboard Hot 100 after over two decades!

4 The Iconic Singer Will Continue His Worldwide Tour

Elton John began recording the album amidst his pause from his final world tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, in 2020. The world tour was intended to be the singer's final show before he postponed it due to the ongoing health crisis. To further support The Lockdown Sessions, John will resume his touring: the European leg is pushed to 2021, the third North American leg is postponed to 2022 and early 2023.

3 The Album Will See The Singer Exploring New Territories In His Music

It's no secret that musicians always experiment and venture into new territories to enrich their discography catalog. For Elton John, he promised that working with today's biggest pop and rap stars will bring a new flavor to his forthcoming album.

"But all the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory," the singer said. "And I realized there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again."

1 'The Lockdown Sessions' Will Hit The Market & Streaming Services In October

As John revealed on social media, The Lockdown Sessions will be released on October 22, 2021, through the EMI and Mercury banners. It also marks the same month as John's return to touring, with several dates from Farewell Yellow Brick Road kicking off in several European cities. Could this be the last album by the Rocketman?
