By 2010, Charlie Sheen was the highest-paid TV actor, earning an eye-watering $2 million per episode on Chuck Lorre’s Two & A Half Men - a sitcom that averaged close to 15 million viewers week-to-week throughout its eight-season run with the controversial star.

But the 54-year-old suffered a major meltdown the following year as he was in and out of rehab while dealing with multiple domestic violence disputes and showing his former work colleagues nothing but irrational and inappropriate behavior.

While Charlie is doing better these days, he continues to share a frosty relationship with his former boss. The actor's pas misconduct included an alleged bender in Las Vegas with an adult performer, which supposedly left him failing to show up for work. A rep for the actor begged to differ, claiming that the actor did show up for taping despite what had been said in the press.

Charlie Sheen's Career Downfall

“Charlie Sheen arrived at work today and is there as I send this. Memo to Chicken Little: The sky remains in place.”

But his team couldn’t spin the narrative when it came to his hospitalization in October 2010 after security was called to his hotel room where they reportedly found the former A-list star naked while appearing intoxicated.

In response, Sheen’s publicist Stan Rosenfield said: "What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse allergic reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where (he) is expected to be released tomorrow.”

Production for Two & A Half Men was infamously placed on hold while executives at CBS figured out a way in which the show can move forward from the scandals that had surfaced in the press, but a breaking point was reached following a string of demeaning comments made by Sheen aimed at the show’s creator.

From calling Lorre a “little maggot” to referring to him as a “clown,” many perceived the comments to be as anti-Semitic, and given that the latter had provided Sheen a platform to not only cash one of the biggest salaries in TV, he also gained plenty of other deals because of the show’s success.

But as Nelly Furtado once said, all good things come to an end - they just tend to end a little worse for some. The father-of-five was fired from his recurring role as Charlie Harper on TAAHM in March 2011, and an official statement given by Chuck Lorre explained that "people were really frightened that they were signing off on what could have had devastating consequences,” according to TV Guide.

Lorre and Warner Bros. were both in agreement that Sheen had crossed the line when he started attacking his staff members with his foul-mouthed language - the decision was also based on the fact that the studio would have lost a lot of family-friendly endorsements due to the scandals that had surfaced about Charlie while the show was on an indefinite hiatus.

Over 200 people’s jobs were on the line if the show was to face an abrupt cancelation, but given that Two & A Half Men was bringing Warner Bros. millions of dollars in revenue, the show went ahead with a new lead star: Ashton Kutcher.

What Has Charlie Recently Said About His Firing?

In January 2017, during an interview with Kylie and Jackie O, Sheen appeared to show no remorse for his actions towards Chuck Lorre when he continued to throw insults his way, insisting he was wrongfully fired after making the show’s creator and the studio billions of dollars.

“I made four billion for that studio, and I got fired,” he said. The most ridiculous impostor, Chuck Lorre, I hope you’re listening. Hey Chuck: Suck my f–king butt.”

He also spoke on a private conversation he had with Lorre during his public breakdown, with the latter asking him whether he was intentionally trying to sabotage the show with his erratic actions that were hurting the brand, people’s jobs, amongst other things.

Executives behind the scenes offered Sheen to take a company jet straight to rehab, which was more or less their way of saying he needed help and they were offering him the best possible service to get there asap!

But even then, Sheen refused to comply, bragging in the same interview how he had other plans in mind instead. “I said, ‘The f–k you are. You’re not flying anyone anywhere.’ I said, ‘I have other plans. See that blonde behind the door? Yeah’.”

When Ashton Kutcher joined the cast of TAAHM, the show went on for another three seasons before concluding with season 12 in February 2015.

And while it’s been almost a decade since his firing, Charlie Sheen isn’t looking to make up with Chuck Lorre anytime soon. If anything, he’s giving off the impression that he’s holding a grudge against him for firing him from his moneymaker, failing to understand that his controversial actions in 2011 had affected hundreds of people, including the show’s reputation.
