Making a physical project that requires stunts is tough work for those willing to undertake the challenge. These movies and shows require an intense level of dedication and come with some serious risks. Some people love doing their own stunts, while others are more than happy to let the professionals slide in and take the risk.

Jaimie Alexander has taken part in plenty of tough projects through the years, and while filming Thor: The Dark World, Alexander would suffer a major injury that came awfully close to paralyzing her.

Let’s see what happened with the performer and her nasty injury.

She Starred As Lady Sif In The Thor Movies

From the outside looking in, it would seem as though landing a recurring role in a major franchise would be an amazing thing, but there are things going on behind the scenes that show just how tough and dangerous this work is. Nevertheless, back in 2011, Jaimie Alexander made her debut as the character Lady Sif in the film Thor.

Thor marked a huge project for the folks at the MCU, and now that they were off and running with a few successful films, it was time for the universe to expand. Thor introduced the God of Thunder and the Asgardians, as well as Loki, who has become one of the most popular characters in MCU history. It was during that first film that Lady Sif made her presence felt.

While she should have gotten more time to shine, people loved the character and they loved what Jaimie Alexander was able to do in the role. She was a great fit in the first film and fans were excited to see her make a return in Thor: The Dark World. Unfortunately for Alexander, things would take a nasty turn when she returned to film The Dark World.

She Had A Nasty Injury On Thor: The Dark World

As safe as things can be on set, the truth is that accidents happen when people least expect it. While filming Thor: The Dark World, Jaimie Alexander wound up taking a massive blow to her physical health that nearly paralyzed the performer for life.

"I herniated a disk in my Thoracic spine, I dislocated my left shoulder, I tore my right Rhomboid, and chipped eleven of my vertebraeI slipped and fell down something very high, and I hurt my self pretty badly and it scared me. I knew when I couldn't get off the ground I was like 'OK, I'm in big trouble,'" she told MTV.

Talk about a nasty spill! The performer would end up seeking medical attention for what took place that day on set, and it seemed like things were going to be okay. That is, of course, until things got significantly worse the following day.

She revealed to MTV, “The next morning I got in a car to back go to the hospital, because I said 'something feels wrong,' and I sat in the car where I compressed my spine a little bit, and I went paralyzed in my right leg and my right hand. So I was in the hospital for a week, but it was a thing where it was just a swelling thing. Once the swelling went down I was good to go, went to physical rehab every day for a month, went back and did some more fight sequences.”

Alexander spent plenty of time getting better physically, and eventually, she was able to continue filming. The movie went on to be a success, and it helped move the MCU forward.  Though we have not seen Alexander in the MCU in some time, she has been starring on the show Blindspot, and she has had some nasty injuries there, too.

She’s Had Plenty Of Injuries On Blindspot

Blindspot seemed like a perfect project for Jaimie Alexander, and the physical nature of the show is something that she has been more than comfortable with. Not unlike her time in the Thor movies, Alexander has suffered a number of injuries while working on Blindspot.

The actress revealed that she has broken her foot several times and has torn both her ACL and MCL. Despite all of the bumps and bruises that she has dealt with during her time on the show and in the MCU, the performer genuinely loves what she does and is willing to do more physical projects.

When speaking with Yahoo, Alexander talked about a potential MCU return, saying, “Oh, sure. I love Marvel. I’d be happy to do other projects with them at any time. They’re a great company — I love all the guys and girls over there — they always are able to get a really fun cast for almost every project they have, which is often. And, of course, who doesn’t want to be a superhero?”
