In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor and comedian Bill Hader elaborated on why he plans to keep his relationship with fellow actor, Anna Kendrick, private from media attention. According to Hader, his private dating life is mostly due to the effect the media attention would have on his three children. When asked to share more about his relationship, Hader declined and stated, “They just want me to be their dad,” suggesting that he wants to control his public image to best suit the relationship he has with his kids.Celebrities are usually pretty accustomed to interacting with the media, but when it comes to their personal relationships, they tend to prefer privacy for various reasons. They may be dating someone who isn't used to that level of publicity, or they may want their young children to be shielded from this generally unnatural kind of attention and intimacy. She's hosted Saturday Night Live, and they've done a movie together, but they got together well after the movie." The insider is most likely referencing "Noelle," a Christmas movie that came out during the 2021 Holiday season.
"Noelle" began filming in the winter of 2017, and while both actors had been involved in the same project before, this was the first time they were filming together. They had both previously appeared on various late-night shows, were both on "Saturday Night Live" together, and had made several appearances at the same award shows.
Given the timeline of their relationship, and finally working together in late 2017, fans speculate that when they met Bill Hader was still finishing up his divorce and Kendrick may have been on the outs of her relationship with Ben Richardson. We are not sure when the two officially got together and given their tight-lipped approach, we likely won't know unless they explicitly share the information.
Bill Hader Is Keeping It Private For The Kids
Bill Hader has three daughters, Haley who is 7, Harper who is 10, and Hannah who is 12. He was previously married to Maggie Carey for 12 years and divorced in 2018.
Hader seems to have a great relationship with his children and often speaks about how important it is for him to spend time with them. In the summer of 2019, Hader was working on multiple projects including "It: Chapter 2" and season 2 of "Barry". In an interview, he commented on how difficult it was to be away from his children for so long, and how he planned to take more time off next summer to see them more.
"'Next summer I’m taking off. And I’m going to spend every day with them.'" Bill said. "It’s this weird thing where when you’re in this industry, you don’t have time to be with them, and it’s really, really difficult. I’m getting emotional right now talking about it."
Hader admits that many actors have to go through this (not being able to see family as much as they would like) but fans know that doesn't necessarily make it any less difficult. Hader seems to want a very normal relationship with his children and has attempted to cut down on any extenuating circumstances that come with being an extremely famous celebrity.
Anna Kendrick's Past Relationship
Anna Kendrick has kept past relationships from the public eye as well. She tried to keep her former relationship with cinematographer Ben Richardson as private as possible. When asked about her relationship in an interview with Farifax Media she said "Well, as far as keeping it private, it isn't easy, as you are proving right now".
Kendrick has been suspected of being in other relationships in the past, even with her former co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. Not much has been confirmed, and fans are left with only rumors to speculate about the complete timeline of her dating history.
It seems that both Bill Hader and Anna Kendrick favor keeping their relationships private for personal reasons, but it is great to know that no matter what they will respect the circumstances that the other has for remaining quiet.
