In the early 90s, Sinbad was thriving, getting his own show, the 'Sinbad Show' over on FOX. Along with his television success, Sinbad was also thriving in the film department. All of a sudden, it seemed as though Sinbad had completely disappeared, despite all that fame and heck once upon a time fortune. These days, getting gigs with the likes of Netflix isn't necessarily easy, as he recently revealed, "Yeah, they won’t call me. Netflix? No. They said, ‘We have an analytical structure. We have analytics that decide who should be on stage. I told my agent that I’m going to just write my own stuff and put some shows together and then when they come in I’ll say I want $21 million."

Although his career trajectory has changed dramatically, Sinbad recently spoke about the success of films like 'Black Panther', "We were so happy to see black people, black heroes, dark skin, bald heads - I said, ‘Jesus, that was the most eclectic group of Blacks I think we’ll ever see in another movie.’ Now the key is what are you going to do next, because sometimes success almost scares them like, ‘Look man, that almost worked too well, because now we can't say that it doesn’t work."

With such a promising career, fans are wondering, where did it all go wrong for Sinbad. In short, his health, taxes, and bankruptcy put a huge damper on his career.

We've seen this time and time again, celebrities spending more than they're bringing in. This can be a risky lifestyle, especially when Hollywood stops calling. That's exactly what took place with the '90s star, "I spent money, and I kept thinking, ‘I get one more movie and I’ll wipe these bills out,’ but that movie never came,” he said. “That black pride, I said, ‘Man, I’m going to hang in there, I’m going to pay these bills.’ So you owe a million dollars. I can pay that. OK, fines, fees, now you owe two and a half million. ‘But I didn’t do nothin’!’ Now you owe four million.”

Sinbad would file for bankruptcy due to tax issues, putting him $11 million in debt, while only bringing home $16,000 per month. As if that wasn't hard enough, Sinbad went through some health complications, including most recently a stroke. Despite the scare, Sinbad's family kept optimistic that his road to recovery was going to be a good one, "Sinbad is a light source of love and joy for many generations. While he is beginning his road to recovery, we are faithful and optimistic that he will bring laughter into our hearts soon."

Sinbad's family did in fact say that he's getting better every single day. In addition, his net worth is back up to $4 million. The comeback is always greater than the setback.
