MCU star Chris Hemsworth has had one heck of a career in Hollywood. He's undergone massive transformations, has done wild stunts, and has turned himself into one of Hollywood's top leading men.

While that seems like more than enough to keep the good times rolling for good, Hemsworth recently let people know that he will be slowing down in the future, and we have the details as to why below!

Chris Hemsworth Has Quite The Hollywood Resume

If you've been paying attention to the biggest stars in Hollywood in recent years, then you've likely noticed that Chris Hemsworth has made his way near the top of the list. The man has been a force on the big screen, and he's one of the most recognizable men in the world today.

The former TV actor might have gotten a nice break in 2009's Star Trek, but things hit lightspeed when he landed the role of Thor during Phase One of the MCU. That role changed the course of his life, and since that 2011 film, Hemsworth has only gotten bigger and better.

His time in the MCU is what he's known best for. He's led 4 solo Thor films to box office flory, and he's been invovled in each Avengers film, as well.

Outside the MCU, Hemsworth has been in the Star Trek franchise, the Men in Black franchise, and has been in other hits like Extraction, Vacation, Snow White and the Huntsman, and even Rush.

Given his standing in entertainment, fans shouldn't be too surprised to learn that the actor's services are in high demand, and that he has a number of big projects on the horizon.

Chris Hemsworth Still Has Several Projects On Tap

Over on his IMDb page, we can see that Chris Hemsworth has some great things on deck.

Next year, he is set to star in Extraction 2, the sequel to his 2020 Netflix film that was helped developed by the legendary Russo brothers.

Beyond that, we see that he will be starring in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel film, Furiosa, and he will also be taking part in the Hulk Hogan biopic, which seems like it's been in development for years.

He is tentatively set to appear in 2026's Avengers: Secret Wars, but beyond that, his MCU future is unknown.

"Every time I play Thor, I'm like, 'This is the last time they let me do it.' So I don't know," he said about his future playing the God of Thunder back in the summer.

That is a lot of work on the horizon for the star, but recently, he made an announcement regarding his future, namely the fact that he will start to take things easy moving forward.

Chris Hemsworth Recently Learned Of A Predisposition To Alzheimer's Disease And Is Taking Time Off

So, why is Chris Hemsworth gearing up to slow down in the world of acting? Well, this decision has come on the heels of the star learning about a predisposition to Alzheimer's Disease.

Per Vanity Fair, "His makeup includes two copies of the gene APOE4, one from his mother, the other from his father, which studies have linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.”

This hit home for Hemsworth, who is currently seeing his grandfather battle the disease.

"I’m not sure he actually remembers much anymore and he slips in and out of Dutch, which is his original language. He’ll be talking [in] Dutch and English and then a mash-up and then maybe some other new words as well," Hemsworth said.

Because of this, the actor is starting to see things differently. He's even expressed how he wants to handle his career moving forward.

"It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off. And since we finished the show, I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do. Now when I finish this tour this week, I’m going home and I’m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify,” he added. “Be with the kids, be with my wife," he said.
