The kids spent close to three years in England with their parents in a rented house in Hertfordshire while Tom and Nicole were filming Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. It isn't known for absolute certainty what caused the couple to split in 2001, but it is known that Nicole suffered another miscarriage which was followed up by being served with divorce papers.

The thoughts behind this are that it was mainly due to her walking away from Scientology. Tom Cruise is very involved with this particular group of people, who, for lack of a better word, shun you if you ever leave them; no matter who you are. While Nicole went on to win an Oscar in 2003, she still felt hopeless and lonely. The divorce along with the miscarriage, had put her into a deep depression.

Nicole Kidman Suffered Immensely Following Her Divorce

Nicole has referred to her Oscar in 2003 as "A Symbol of Loneliness." In an interview with Steven Colbert she said, "I have to say, when I won my Oscar, I was not in a great place in my life." She continued to explain that she was alone, with no one to share it with. "I was sort of flailing emotionally and personally." Said Kidman.

During this time, Tom would accompany the children to the Scientology headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, where they would attend lectures and "auditing" seminars where adherents would discuss memories as a stated step toward spiritual liberation.

The custody agreement fell through. Nicole planned on spending time with her children after almost a year in Romania filming Cold Mountain, but Tom had enlisted them in Scientology summer camp instead. While they deny ever taking her husband or children from her; we aren't drinking the Kool-aid. The Church of Scientology has been described by government inquiries, international parliamentary bodies, scholars, law lords, and numerous superior court judgments as both a dangerous cult and a manipulative profit-making business.

Those who have broken free from the cult, including Leah Remini, have spoken about Tom's rage against Nicole and his effort to keep the children from her. No one came through the door who was not a Scientologist.

Nicole Kidman Did Not Attend Isabella Cruise's Wedding

When Isabella married Max Parker, Isabella Cruise said that it was difficult to have her father not accompany her down the aisle. Only close friends were invited to the intimate wedding, which was held in September at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, as well as Max's parents, did not go. Reports that Bella's relationship with her parents is strained as a result of their absence were refuted in a recent interview with the Mail online.

When asked about how they live their lives outside the public eye, the new husband replied, "It's more of a weird situation for everyone else," in reference to the public not being used to people leaving Hollywood.

The main reason behind Cruise and Kidman's absence from the wedding was privacy. Isabella and Max did not want media attention. They have not shared how they met, how Max proposed, or anything else about their relationship. Instead, the newly married couple keeps to themselves. They even refuse any financial help from her wealthy parents.

It seems her absence from her daughter's wedding had nothing to do about family tensions and everything to do with how Isabella wants to live her life away from Hollywood.
