The Weeknd has deleted all his Instagram photos, but it's not the first time. If you search for the Weeknd's Instagram page, you'll find it, but it won't look the same as it did a few days ago. The page's content, including the Weeknd's profile picture, has all been deleted or archived.
This isn't the first time it's happened, though. Before the Weeknd started promoting his most recent album, After Hours, he did the same thing. That's why fans believe he's getting ready to promote and release a new album.
For the Weeknd, deleting Instagram pictures is akin to starting a new era - and new eras come with a new aesthetic, sound, and vibe. For After Hours, the Weeknd donned a red suit jacket and promoted images of gore (blood, decapitated heads etc.). The images seemed to be influenced by The Casino, starring Robert DeNiro and Sharon Stone. The album has a dark RnB sound, with dragged out vocals and unique instrumentals.
Not much is known about the new album, but fans are speculating that it will be called "The Dawn." This is based on the following cryptic tweet:
The Weeknd has also been teasing his new album through other tweets as well, like these:
After Hours received positive praise from fans and critics alike. However, there was controversy when the Recording Academy did not present the Weeknd with any Grammys in 2021, despite "Blinding Lights" being one of the most popular songs since its release.
This led to the Weeknd officially boycotting the Grammys. The Weeknd's efforts for recognition were rewarded at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards and the 2021 Juno Awards; he took home ten Billboard awards and five Juno awards.
Although there has not yet been an announced release date for his new album, it is expected to be a hit.
