Rogen spends a lot of his free time advocating for Hilarity For Charity, an organization he started with his wife. Hilarity For Charity raises funds for research into the cure for Alzheimer's Disease. Rogen became invested in the cause after he witnessed his mother-in-law rapidly deteriorate from the disease when she was only in her 50s. Rogen also testified before Congress to implore an increase in funding for Alzheimer's research in 2014.
6 Stand-Up Comedy
Not many people know that Rogen's character in Funny People was based on some real life experiences. Before he was a famous actor, Rogen was getting his start as a stand-up comedian. It was through comedy that he eventually met Judd Apatow and their working relationship began, leading to him being cast in Apatow's debut project Freaks and Geeks. Rogen co-wrote many of the films that made him a star, most famous of which are Pineapple Express and Superbad. He was also the writer for The Green Hornet, Sausage Party, and he was the story writer for The Interview. The latter was a rather controversial film as it lampoons North Korea's leader Kim Jung Un. The film sparked an international incident when it was pulled from theaters after threats from North Korean officials were made, but it ended up getting distribution on Netflix.
