On the air for 48 seasons, along with airing over 900 episodes, things were bound to go wrong from time to time on Saturday Night Live. Heck, during the '80s, many feared the show would come to an end altogether. Eddie Murphy is considered the savior of the show, and the actor that inspired so many others on the show.

Hosting duties are a different animal, especially for those that aren't used to the world of sketch comedy, in front of a live audience.

Just ask the countless amount of athletes that bombed on the show, Lance Armstrong and Ronda Rousey are names that instantly come to mind. Though in truth, even if you're bad, it takes a special individual to actually get banned from the show.

Steven Segal is often considered among the very worst. Lorne Michaels confirmed this in past, stating that the actor was very hard to work with behind the scenes. His night on the show was forgettable and downright unfunny.

Paris Hilton also got a bad reputation for her time on the show, just ask Tina Fey who wasn't amused by the reality star and all the pitches she said no to.

Still, it takes something really special to get your footage canceled. That's what went down with this Oscar winner, who rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with his impromptu gig, one that is hard to find on the internet nowadays. Let's find out who the actor is, why he got canceled from the show and what the fans are saying.

The Piano Man

We can understand someone with limited acting experience making a mess of their time on the show. However, an 'Academy Award' winner... that's pretty darn surprising.

Adrien Brody was riding a high prior to hosting the show, receiving huge fanfare for his part in 'The Pianist' back in 2002. At the time, he became the youngest award winner at the age of 29. Perhaps his youthful youth at the time backfired... as a year later he had one of the worst 'SNL' skits ever.

Brody decided to improvise an introduction for Sean Paul, using dreadlocks and an accent. It was not well-received and considered very disrespectful.

In addition, Lorne Michaels has a strong dislike for those that go off-script.. to sum up, it was not a good night for Brodie and the show.

“Ya, ya, ya, ya, you know, man. We got original rude boy Sean Paul here."

It just got worse from then on.

“Respect all respect. My auntie. Respect all aspect, respect me neck, respect me knees, Big up Jamaica massive! Big up Kingston Massive! We got the whole family now, ya here! Big respect to my man Sean Paul the dance floor killer!”

That surely deserves a, yikes... Brody wasn't invited back to the show and the footage itself was pretty much canceled by the show and never replayed again.

Fans seem to agree, Brodie was overreaching at the time.

The Fans Aren't Arguing

In some cases, fans argue as to why a certain star got banned. Take Martin Lawrence as an example, yes he took his opening dialogue way too far back in the day, though fans thought it was time to reduce the ban.

As for Brody, there truly is no such talk. Fans on both Quora and YouTube seem to agree with the debacle and nobody is asking for the ban to be lifted.

"Adrien Brody came out in fake dreadlocks and an accent to introduce the musical guest Sean Paul, and I’m guessing he didn’t bother to run it by anyone, if not Lorne Michaels for sure."

"He did the thing that the guy who runs SNL hates. And thus, booted."

"That's not a Jamaican accent, that's a stroke."

"I think Jamaicans only should vote on the banning. I'm Jamaican, not offended. The accent is a joke to begin with, slang, it's not a language. And we watched Oliver growing up lol this is funny."

"How come he got banned for doing a Chet Hanks impression? I thought it was pretty accurate."

At the very least, the failed hosting gig didn't really deter his acting career one bit. He still remained incredibly busy, with a slew of films since.

Surely, he'd do things differently this time around if he would be given a second chance. Though clearly, 'SNL' has moved on and we assume Brodie isn't losing sleep over it anymore either.
