When looking for a juicy teen show that has rich kids, fancy outfits, and a plot that never stops moving, Gossip Girl is the perfect binge-watch.

Taylor Momsen left Gossip Girl to pursue music and fans always loved watching her as Jenny Humphrey, Dan's younger and impressionable sister who just wanted to be popular. This was a character that many people could relate to, as most people have gone through a period of wishing that they would have a bigger friend group or get invited to all the cool parties.

Now that a reboot of Gossip Girl has been announced, it's the perfect time to think back on the show and think about the way that it ended. When the famous "Gossip Girl" was finally revealed, it was Dan Humphrey. But there's a fan theory that says that Jenny was actually this anonymous character.

The Jenny Fan Theory

Penn Badgley doesn't like that Dan was Gossip Girl and so it's interesting to think about another character being part of this huge reveal.

A fan of the show posted on Reddit and said Jenny could have been GG. They wrote, "I was reading on this sub that someone had the theory that Jenny was the original GG. I was rewatching it, and it actually made a decent amount of sense. Like yeah, bad things are posted about her, but she was the type of person who would do close to anything for attention."

The fan did note that there was one problem with the theory: who was writing about the Kiss On The Lips party in the pilot episode? If it was Jenny, that doesn't make sense because she was with Chuck at the party, and everyone remembers that awful scene as he tried to pressure her.

The fan said that one of Jenny's classmates at school could have been helping her out and posting about that party.

Many fans responded to this post and said that they never thought it was very logical for Dan to be GG. They said that maybe Dan was working with a group of people and one fan said it could have been Dan, Eric, and Jenny.

Why Was Dan Gossip Girl?

Penn Badgley has been vocal about not believing that Dan could be Gossip Girl and some fans felt this way, too.

Writer Joshua Safran said Nate was the OG Gossip Girl. According to Buzzfeed, Safran said, "I like to joke that Dan was Gossip Girl because I had left the show by then. Dan was not my intended Gossip Girl, so honestly, you'd have to ask someone else." He continued, "But I understand why Dan was Gossip Girl. I just had my heart set on Nate."

Safran also said that he considered having Eric be Gossip Girl, which is interesting since some fans posted on Reddit that they could see that character having this role.

It does seem like it makes more sense for Jenny (or Eric) to be GG than Dan. After all, Jenny wanted to be a popular Queen Bee and she was obsessed with Blair Waldorf and her social circle. This meant a lot to her, whereas Dan wasn't interested in being cool and he really kept his distance from that cool crowd, besides falling in love with Serena Van Der Woodsen.

While Safran said that he hadn't planned on Dan being the big reveal, executive producer Stephanie Savage told E! News the plan was always Dan. Savage said, "We never really entertained any other ideas of who Gossip Girl was. It was whether we were going to reveal it."

Playing Jenny

When Taylor Momsen said goodbye to Gossip Girl, the talk surrounding it wasn't very positive. According to Cheat Sheet, Tim Gunn guest-starred on the show and said that she wasn't very professional on set. People said that she and Leighten Meester fought, and Gunn explained, "She annoyed the entire crew."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Momsen talked about her band Pretty Reckless and their first single, and she said that she didn't get along with the other actors. The reporter asked if she and Leighten Meester chatted about music since she was singing, too, and Momsen said, "No. I’m not really close with my cast. We’re all cordial and nice to each other, but we’re not really friends outside of the set. And we’re doing a different thing: She’s putting out a pop record, which is awesome."
