Ariel Winter is best known for playing Alex Dunphy on the ABC comedy Modern Family. For 11 seasons, Modern Family warmed the hearts of everyone who watched it and got to see the Dunphy kids grow up before their eyes.
Besides Modern Family, Winter is known for voicing the titular character in the Disney Junior show Sofia the First and the voice of Penny Peterson in the animated film Mr. Peabody and Sherman, along with numerous other acting credits. She is a four time SAG Award winner alongside her cast for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble in a Comedy Series and was nominated eight times.
Being nominated for a Young Artists Award twice for Modern Family, Ariel Winter won the award once in 2010 for Outstanding Young Ensemble In A TV Series.

11 Shedding Her Alex Dunphy Roots
Even though everyone knows her with black hair from years on Modern Family, Ariel Winter’s natural hair color is actually dirty blonde, which he revealed to People, despite her having darker eyebrows. When you’re on a TV show, you really can’t cut or dye your hair because you have to stay in character, unless they write it into the script, so when Modern Family was done shooting, she said goodbye to her black hair… and she hopes hopefully forever.
10 Visited The Big Apple
Although she is currently living in Los Angeles, Winter was quarantining for a bit in New York City. She was attending UCLA, but it was just too much while filming. And now, many reports, including her Linkedin, show that she is attending New York University, so this could have been a reason why she was there. Then again, who doesn't love New York City?
9 Quarantine Cleaning
She did what we all should have done during the quarantine instead of binging Tiger King. Winter was doing some quarantine cleaning and found something from her past. "quarantine cleaning really unearths things you hate as well as great ideas for entertainment," she captioned the video, which showed her hitting a cardboard cute of her head.
8 Interviews And Photo Shoots
When something as big as Modern Family ends, you are most likely going to do an interview about it. Well, Ariel Winter did many interviews. She talked to Elite Daily, Teen Vogue and StyleCaster- all publications that appeal to her age group. She talked about mental health, being normal, trolls and dying her hair. In all of the photo shoots that she posted to her Instagram, Winter looked happier than ever and ready for a new chapter.
7 Blondes Have More Fun
After already shocking fans with her red hair, Winter dyed her hair again-this time platinum blonde. She captioned the photo, "Winter Is Coming!!!!!!!!" as a reference to Game of Thrones, but also her last name. As a blonde, she also pointed out that kindness is not that hard and her freckles, despite her being inside during to the pandemic, were really coming through.
6 Stepping Into A New Role
And just like that Alex Dunphy is all grown-up. Winter posted that she will be starring in the thriller, Don't Log Off. They finished filming last July and she is so excited for fans to see it. Also, she added another title to her name-producer. “When the birthday girl suddenly goes missing during her surprise birthday Zoom, it’s up to her handful of close friends to figure out how and why she disappeared. They must work remotely, using the technology at their disposal and individual trips to her apartment in order to unravel the clues as to what might have happened to her. That is — if they themselves can stay out of harm’s way."
5 Seeing Pink
Bye bye blonde! Once again, Ariel Winter dyed her hair. This time was a beautiful cotton candy pink. Not being involved in any specific project for a long time allows her to experiment with her hair and she is doing just that. This color really makes her dark eyes and brows really stand out. It even looks like she lobbed off some of her hair for a fresh new start. She follows in many celebrities' footsteps that have dabbled in pink hair.
4 Got Vaccinated
On April 24th of this year, Winter posted a cute selfie where she was wearing a blue sweater with the caption "Vaccinated vibes." She has been a big advocate for voting, equality and quarantining during this pandemic, so of course she had to document when she got vaccinated. The actress also didn't stay pink for long and went back to the platinum blonde look.
3 Starring In Indie Film, ‘Pools’
Getting back into acting, Ariel Winter announced on her Instagram that she will be starring in an Indie film called Pools. She will star in the film with Love, Victor star Mason Gooding. Pools "follows Kennedy (Odessa A’zion), who is stuck at summer school after flunking her sophomore year of college. Amidst a heat wave, she rallies a ragtag crew for a pool-hopping adventure through the wealthy estates of Lake Forest, on the north shore of Chicago. But as the secrets spill, a wild night of fun becomes a cathartic journey of self-discovery."
2 Doggie Love
Who doesn't love dogs? Winter has posted about her dogs in the past, but finally posted all five of her dogs in one picture. She encouraged her followers to post photos of their pups and to tag her in them. She is a big advocate for rescuing animals. Her furbabies are absolutely adorable and we hope she posts more photos of them all together again. They, along with her boyfriend, got her through this quarantine.

Most recently, Ariel Winter posted a photo of herself as a red head again. She gave off The Little Mermaid vibes as this Ariel took a photo in a bikini while her and her boyfriend, Luke Benward, were playing games (she decided on Settlers of Catan) and hanging out. Winter seems to be enjoying her low-key life after Modern Family and we can't wait to see her in her next projects very soon.
