Adele hasn’t released any music since the release of her chart-topping album 25 back in 2015, but trust and believe that this British songstress continues rolling in the money, which isn’t really a surprise considering she writes most of her own songs.
According to reports, while 2020 proved to be a challenging year for many, the 32-year-old made $6 million throughout the year, which may not seem like a lot to some, but since she’s kept a low-profile since wrapping her tour in 2017, those figures are still very impressive.
So where exactly did her earnings come from and how is she still holding on to the title of being the wealthiest British artist?
Adele’s 2020 Earnings
According to The Sun, Adele made $6 million in 2020, which is $13.6 million less than what she’s believed to have taken home the previous year, with most of her profits coming from her album sales.
The Tottenham native is one of the few artists who still do impressive numbers as far as album sales are concerned — when Adele drops an album, she can quite literally disappear from the industry for years before deciding whether she wants to record another project or not.
After all, her last release was a critically-acclaimed body of work which sold over 23 million copies worldwide, while her predecessor 21 (which she dropped back in 2011) sold an eye-watering 31 million units, making her one of the best-selling acts of all-time.
Today, the mother of one is said to be worth an astounding $190 million, has since relocated to Los Angeles where she’s said to be raising her son Angelo.
Since the start of 2020, Adele has been teasing fans with little hints that she’s been gearing up to release another album, but following the coronavirus outbreak, the “Someone Like You” hitmaker delayed those plans, and it now seems as if new music could very well be on the way sometime this year.
In October 2020, she hosted Saturday Night Live, which led many people to believe she was going to surprise the world with a new album, but it turned out that she was, in fact, just there to take on the hosting duties — there were no plans of her to perform as she already told producers her upcoming album wasn’t finished yet.
It’s been reported that Pearl Jam star Matt Chamberlain is helping Adele pen and produce her new music.
Chamberlain recently spoke on his experience working with the Grammy winner in an interview, revealing that the songs he’s collaborated with Adele on left him with “chills.”
“I just got to work on some new music for Adele and to hear that voice in my headphones was giving me chills. It was just so powerful and emotive.
“You know her voice, but to be across the room from somebody doing that, it’s just insane.
You hear it on the radio and whatever and you go, ‘Yeah it’s really good’, but to be in the room with these people and feel that energy, it’s just so heavy.”
He added that Adele has also brought Rick Nowels on board, who is probably best known for his work with the likes of Madonna and Lana Del Rey, so if fans are expecting a heartbreak album that’s bound to get you sobbing about an ex, this next project is all of that and more.
It also goes without saying that the “Rumor Has It” star has been dedicating these last couple of years to fitness and health, after having dropped an impressive 50 pounds thanks to the help of her personal trainer Harley Pasternak, who is also known for having gotten dozens of stars in tip-top shape including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
Speaking of her life out in California, a source told People: “Adele loves Los Angeles and lives a great life with her son. She likes to keep her life private for both her and her son and is able to do that in L.A. She co-parents with Simon, and they seem to get along and spend time together with Angelo as well.”
“She surrounds herself with loyal girlfriends who are as private as she is. She has the best personality and is very warm and generous.”
She’s looking better than ever before and it looks as if new music is very well on its way, with all signs pointing to a release date sometime this year.
Fans believe that the album will most likely be announced towards the end of the year, as Adele is most likely also going to prep for a tour — but with the pandemic leaving current concert plans on hold, it may be best to hold out for a while.
