While they are on much better terms these days, who can possibly forget the infamous feud between Teyana Taylor and Rihanna back in 2013? The female R&B singers engaged in a lengthy back-and-forth on social media shortly after the “Google Me” star shared her rendition of Anita Baker’s classic “Caught Up in the Rapture.”Rihanna had taken it upon himself to record a video of her hairstylist Yusef wearing a curly wig and baseball cap (two very distinct marks of Teyana’s style) as she mocked her former rival’s singing abilities in a viral post shared on her Instagram.Teyana, who's worth a reported $3 million, wasted no time slamming RiRi for being shady towards her. Many fans at the time weren’t even aware that the two had been quietly feuding behind the scenes, but after the incident involving the IG post, all bets were off when both women dissed each other in a series of hurtful insults, leaving the rest of us quite entertained.

Teyana Taylor And Rihanna’s Feud

It all escalated back in September 2013 when Teyana posted her video clip singing Anita’s song — and it wasn’t long before Rihanna went on to upload her hairstylist’s version while sporting TT’s signature fashion.

According to E! News, the “Outta My League” songstress decided to respond by directing a tweet at Rihanna with the message, “petty is petty and shade is shade, she knew what the f—k she was doing.”

And after Rihanna joked about her rival’s net worth being $500k compared to her $90 million fortune, it was Teyana’s follow-up tweet that had left Twitter users gobsmacked when she wrote, “90 million dollars & 90 million driving in that b***h box.”

After insinuating that Rihanna was quite the promiscuous woman in Hollywood, the “Umbrella” superstar decided to break her silence, when she replied, saying that she wasn’t going to breathe too much life into their feud because it was most likely only going to benefit Teyana’s career.

“I REFUSE to help your career…you will NOT get an @ from me! Not til you pay me! #nomorefreepormo #iRefuse,” Rihanna wrote.

Teyana would later sit down for an interview with Hot97 to discuss her feud with Rihanna, explaining that she didn’t even understand what led to their fallout, to begin with.

While there were rumors floating around that the two had been at war behind the scenes, it wasn’t until their social media spat where people knew for sure that Teyana and Rihanna were at odds about something — but according to Teyana, she had no clue what Ri’s problem was with her.

“I do think she’s a cyber bully. I really do,” she shared. “I think she’s a cyber bully. I think she has dope music... She’s a pretty girl. But that don’t mean that you can just bully anybody. It don’t work like that.”

“At the end of the day, I work hard, you know I work hard, you know I have talent. My s**t is gonna pop regardless. You understand what I’m saying? This wasn’t [a] publicity stunt. This wasn’t trying to get free publicity. But, clearly I was on her brain for her to even be making fun of me.”

In December 2013, because of the public feud, Teyana ended up losing her endorsement deal with Adidas. A statement at the time read, “We have ended our relationship with Teyana Taylor and do not have any upcoming product launches with her.”

But in September 2016, it appeared as if the drama between both ladies was officially over when Teyana gushed about her exclusive Puma x Fenty collection, which was said to have been personally sent to the 30-year-old at the request of Rihanna.

“Thanks for the dope ass gift Ri, I love them!! Gimme kiss! ❤️ #FentyxPuma."

Both women have since been spotted hanging out at celebrity events together, while Rihanna has also described Teyana as one of her biggest fashion influencers, giving all the more reason to believe that their Twitter drama has been left in the past.

Besides, it was probably wiser for them to make up than to remain enemies given that Teyana and Rihanna share dozens of friends in the same circle, and while we can’t confirm or deny that this may have been the case, perhaps they were the ones who helped resolve the pair’s differences.

In April 2018, Teyana and Rihanna were photographed attending a show together at Coachella while sporting unique masks on their face.

While it was perhaps one of the most entertaining feuds on Twitter at the time, it’s good to see these two back on friendly terms with one another.
