Few shows in television history can come close to matching what The Office was able to achieve during its run on the small screen. Sure, shows like Friends and Seinfeld have gigantic legacies, as well, but there is something truly unique about The Office and its incredible re-watchability.

As great as the show was, it was still not immune from laying the occasional egg, and IMDb just so happens to have every single episode rated, meaning that they’ve reached a consensus about the worst episode in the show’s history.

Let’s see which episode is the worst of the worst.

“Get The Girl” Is The Worst With 6.5 Stars

There is no denying that The Office is a prime example of a show that drastically shifted in quality as the series went along. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising that some of the worst episodes of the series took place much later on. If IMDb is to be believed, then the episode “Get The Girl” is the worst in series history with a paltry 6.5 stars.

It’s almost hard for outsiders to imagine just how badly the show dropped the ball as the seasons went on, and this episode is a prime example of that. Sure, the series finale absolutely stuck the landing and helped alter the public’s opinion about the show’s quality, but episodes like this are a nice reminder of what actually happened as the series moved on without key characters.

Fans of the show weren’t too fond of what became of Andy, and in this episode, he ventures out to Tallahassee to get Erin back both professionally and romantically. This is on the heels of Erin caring for and living with a woman in the town, refusing to go back to Dunder Mifflin. Yeah, it was a whole thing that virtually no one liked.

This is also the episode where Nellie, perhaps the worst character in the show’s history, sets out to claim the manager position at Dunder Mifflin. There isn’t a whole lot to like here, and the horrid use of green screen in many of Erin’s interviews are laughably bad and distracting, to say the least.

As bad as this episode was, there are a few that come close to matching it.

“The Banker” Is A Shade Higher At 6.8 Stars

With 6.8 stars, “The Banker” is one of the worst episodes in the show’s history. It’s forgettable and never realized its potential. Fans of sitcoms are all too familiar with clip shows, and while they can be fun, this one still managed to miss the mark and go down as one of the worst episodes in Office history. How does a show with this many great moments still drop the ball?

This episode was all about a banker coming by Dunder Mifflin and Michael doing far too much to impress him by hiding any blemishes that the company has. It’s a silly premise, and the use of clips to go through the show’s most infamous moments should have worked, but it didn’t. This episode fell flat and most people aren’t too fond of it at all.

“Gettysburg” is another episode with 6.8 stars, ranking among the lowest episodes in the show’s history. There is a lot going on in this episode, and yet, it manages to be bad from start to finish, if the IMDb rating is to be believed. Andy takes the crew to Gettysburg and likens running a paper company to the Civil War.

This episode also sees Robert California being tricked into thinking that Kevin is exceptionally clever with ideas. Add on Dwight and Oscar getting into historical inaccuracies and you have an episode of the show that is totally skippable, much like the next-worst episode.

“Angry Andy” Has 6.9 Stars

Oh, another episode with Nellie is bad? That’s right, “Angry Andy” is another one of the worst episodes of all time, and it is another reason why so many people hated Nellie and how the show declined in quality as time went on.

In this episode, Andy and Erin return from Tallahassee to see that Nellie is now the manager. Erin and Andy both explode in anger and Andy loses his job. Even the callback to him punching through the wall was disappointing.

This episode also focuses on Kelly making a huge decision about her love life and is only salvaged by the funny moment of Jim and Pam crying after reading’s Ryan’s poem that he wrote. All in all, this was a bad episode that virtually no one needs to sit down and watch anytime soon.
