At the end of 2013, Khloe Kardashian stunned fans after filing for divorce from Lamar Odom after four years of marriage. The news may not have been that much of a shock considering the scandals that had surfaced in the press throughout the year regarding the former NBA star’s drug addiction, but people firmly believed the pair would work through their differences all while hoping that Lamar would the help that he clearly needed.

But it appeared as if there was no chance of saving the ex-couple’s marriage amid claims that the former Lakers basketball player had also cheated on his ex-wife with a handful of women, who he would meet at brothels. The worst part about it was that Lamar was allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse without protection, showing just how careless he was about the situation.

There’s been a lot said about the Armenian-American family, who rose to fame following the first season premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2007, and when looking at their history of exes, most have experienced a sudden career downfall after romancing one of Kris Jenner’s daughters.

From Tyga to Kanye West and Scott Disick, who has been in and out of rehab for years, fans are wondering whether the “Kardashian curse” is real — but what does Lamar think about it? Here’s the lowdown…

Is The Kardashian Curse Real?

Everyone has noticed that the men who come into contact with the Kardashians are usually faced with the “Kardashian curse,” where their career takes a huge decline, they start to behave erratically, or we just never hear from them again.

Lamar’s case may be a little different since he had already been dealing with his drug habit prior to meeting Khloe, but it seemed that being with the reality star only made things worse.

Shortly after getting together, the pair announced their engagement, before E! presented them a lucrative deal to document their journey to the alter.

From there, Khloe and Lamar would go on to sign another partnership with the NBC-owned network to star in their very own reality show, titled Khloe & Lamar.

In other words, these two never really had a moment to enjoy their relationship without cameras following their every move — but the father of two seemed to have been on board with the idea of sharing his life with the world, so long as it made his then-wife happy.

After just two seasons, however, the show was pulled and it wasn’t long after when cracks were beginning to show in Khloe and Lamar’s marriage.

In July 2013, the former athlete became the center of attention following reports he and Khloe had not been seeing eye-to-eye for months. That same month, Lamar attacked a photographer and trashed the man’s vehicle.

A source for Radar Online insisted that the incident was brought upon by the cheating allegations made against Lamar.

“Things have been very, very tense in the house for a great deal of time,” the publication’s insider said.

"Khloe kicked Lamar out of their bedroom several months ago and he was sleeping in one of the mansion’s guest rooms. She fears Lamar has been cheating on her with various women. It really irked Khloe when Lamar was blatantly caught going to a strip joint."

Khloe later withdrew her divorce filing before reinstating the request in 2016.

In April 2021, during an interview with VLAD TV, the 41-year-old was asked about his former relationship with Khloe, who has since settled down with fellow NBA star Tristan Thompson. Together, they share three-year-old True Thompson.

Asked whether he believed the Kardashian curse was real, Lamar responded, “That’s stupidity because everybody goes through s–t. If I had your family on tape, and see all the s–t your family was going through, people would be like, ‘This family is crazy!'”

He went on to say that the Kardashians are very transparent with how much of their personal lives they share with the world — nothing is off-limits.

And because of this approach, people are bound to see the good and the bad, because even though Lamar’s marriage ended on bad terms, he also shares some unforgettable (and positive) memories during his three-year relationship with Khloe. It wasn’t all bad.

“People would see all the drug addicts, all the sex, they share their life with you, so you see everything,” Odom said. “Maybe it’s overexposed, but people love it. The people that made them are the ones who point the fingers. It’s kind of sickening. I’ve lived it from the inside in, to the outside.”

Lamar says he’s no longer in contact with Khloe, but he still wishes her nothing but the best in her future with True and Tristan.
