This is typically the case for popular sitcoms, most of the cast isn't ready to say goodbye. That took place on 'Modern Family' and the same holds true for 'The Big Bang Theory'. The cast was ready to shoot yet another season, when Jim parsons decided to pull the plug. As Kaley Cuoco stated with Variety, it wasn't an easy time for her, "I was so shocked that I was literally like, ‘Continue on with what?’ Like, I didn’t even know what he was talking about. I looked at Chuck: ‘Wow. I thought we were — I’m so blown away right now.’” According to Cuoco, Lorre said, “We’re all for one, one for all. And we’re not going to do this without the whole team.” She added: “That was the one thing we all agreed on — we came in together, we go out together.”

Although the show came to an end, fans will celebrate its legacy for years and years to come. The casting was a pivotal part of the show's success, though little do some fans know, one of the main stars came close to not appearing at all. In fact, in the initial pilot, she didn't even have the part we all know her for.

Penny Over Katie

The innocent girl next door role, played by Kaley Cuoco wasn't always the plan. In fact, the show had a very different role in mind initially. Katie was supposed to in the role, and she was labeled as a sort of "mean" character. Ultimately, a year later, the show reconsidered their strategy, to Cuoco's benefit, "A year later, I heard they were doing it again, and they brought me back in to read for Penny," Cuoco said.

President of Warner Brothers agreed, Katie was the wrong fit for the show, "In the first pilot, the character of [Katie] was not as appealing as that proverbial girl next door," president and chief content officer at Warner Bros. Television Group Peter Roth said. "It was not the actress [Amanda Walsh] but rather the conceit of the character."

Johnny Galecki also agreed, Kaley fit in with the rest of the cast instantly, and was a much better fit, "It felt very natural, almost musical, [to reshoot] the pilot when Kaley was on board with Simon [Helberg] and Kunal [Nayyar]," he said. "It felt like a band you'd been playing with for years. And everything that everyone did complemented what someone else had to do. It was just fantastic. There's no recipe for that kind of chemistry."

Lasting 12 seasons and 279 episodes, it is clear that the right decisions were made when it came to the on-screen casting choices. The show lasted over a decade and fans wish it was even longer.
