TikTok is fast becoming the go-to social media app for anyone in show business. While YouTube and Twitter are still incredibly popular apps for content creation, TikTok offers stand-up comedians a different means of sharing pieces of their material.

With TikTok, not only can a comic advertise their tours, they can do so while sharing clips of their best routines, something they can do on Twitter but not as effectively since Twitter is more dependent on text than on video.

Many big-name comics are already on the app, like Margaret Cho or Kevin Hart, but the app is giving comics with a smaller following a fair shake and is helping them lay the foundation for a thriving career. These comics aren't selling out stadiums yet, but they might if their TikTok success stories continue.

13 Sam Morrill

A dry wit and an even mood tone that never changes allow this deadpan comic to push boundaries without losing the crowd. His bits cover current events in a noncontroversial way that still manages to be on the edgy side. Morrill's podcast We Might Be Drunk has begun to attract some big-name guests, like Judd Apatow.

12 Gianmarco Soresi

With over 20 million likes Soresi thanks to his sketches about the Covid vaccine and clips of his routine. He does bits about his family but is also not shy about sharing his political opinion, which is very left of the center.

11 Jamie Wolf

Wolf is a young comic with only a few hundred thousand followers as of the time this is written, but his videos have millions of views and likes. He is excellent at crowd work and handling hecklers. According to his TikTok bio, Drake follows him on Instagram.

10 Geoffrey Asmus

Asmus is not afraid to talk politics, but he has jokes about both sides, like his routine about dating liberal women vs dating conservatives. He is also not afraid to roast racists and he does it very well. He just got his 1 millionth like and there is likely more to come from this rising star.

9 Matt Braunger

Braunger has been doing standup for a long time, and he even had a short stint on the later seasons of MadTV. Even though he has been in the game for a while he is not very famous, but that might be changing soon. Braunger specializes in relatable and observational humor and uses his life as insight into his observations. His follower count is growing exponentially.

8 Mark Normand

Normand already has a Netflix special, but he is shining on TikTok with over 200,000 followers and videos with 4 million likes as of May 2022. The self-deprecating comedian is also not afraid to get a little raw, one bit he opens with the statement "Sorry I was late I was J**king off to the Amber Heard trial." Normand co-hosts the podcast We Might Be Drunk with Sam Morill.

7 Stavros Haikias

Crowd work, a jolly laugh, and self-deprecation help this young comic get away with raunchy jokes about sex and porn. But most of Haikia's videos highlight his crowd work, where he truly excels.

6 Stef Dag

Female comics are also dominating the app and one is Stef Dag who is ready to share her hot takes on Hinge dating profiles, Bella Hadid's goth poser status, and sexual humor. Dag's style also bears some similarities to the style of another rising comic, Taylor Tomlinson.

5 Armando Torres

Torres' jokes cover everything from current events, his weight, his Mexican heritage, and more. He also has a popular podcast called Mando Does Stuff. Armando is also a stoner comedian, putting him in company with the likes of Dave Chappelle and Doug Benson.

4 Jenny Zigrino

Zigrino landed a Comedy Central special but it might be her TikToks that will end up making her the next Sarah Silverman. Zigrino jokes about sexism, toxic body issues for women, and a variety of other issues that male comics just can not do justice to.

3 Jourdain Fisher

How does one do racial comedy in the 2020s? Well, Fisher has an answer, roast the racists, not the race. Fisher is black and is ready to lampoon white supremacists at the drop of the hat. It's not all about race with him though, he also does some observational jokes, like his bit about Tinder swindlers.

2 Max Zavidow

Zavidow's follower numbers grew after he went viral for his videos that make bisexual people on the app feel seen, according to the massive amount of duets they receive. The 21-year comedian is out loud and proud about his sexuality to the point he rallies his friends to make videos about it with him. The future is bright for Max Zavidow.

1 Steve Hofstetter

Hofstetter, like Mat Braunger, is an elder of the comedians winning the TikTok fights but he is winning. The comedian thrives at crowd work and destroys every heckler dumb enough to take him on. Anyone who is a budding comedian who also needs a lesson in handling angry audience members and drunks should watch a Hofstetter video. Hofstetter already has several albums out and he has been on the club circuit for years. It is almost criminal that he isn't performing in stadiums yet.
