Celebrities, especially musicians on tour, rely heavily on air travel to get around. While some have their own luxurious private jets, others prefer to fly with like regular people - but in first class, of course.
While some celebrities don't act like divas, others make for difficult airline passengers. They throw fits, expect special treatment, and treat flight attendants with no respect. Some were so rude on planes that they had to be thrown off the flight!
10 Blac Chyna
In 2016, Blac Chyna wanted to fly over the pond to Europe, but her plans fell through after she was acting disruptively at the airport. She was allowed on the plane initially, but was soon escorted off because she was too intoxicated and allegedly got in a fight with a flight attendant.
9 Diana Ross
A bad tooth ache can bring the worst out of people! In 1966, Ross unexpectedly had to fly from Los Vegas to California due to a dental emergency. On her way back, she ran into trouble at the airport. The staff wouldn't let her take her dog with her on board, but Ross was pretending that she doesn't have one, even though it was clearly barking in a box where she had hidden it. Things escalated. The singer was mortified that the airline employee was accusing her of lying. She then hit the staff with the very same box with the dog still in it!
8 Cara Delevingne
Most know her as a model, but there is much more to Cara Delevingne than that. According to Refinery29, she's quite the troublemaker: Cara Delevingne confessed that she tends to get frisky on planes and that she particularly enjoys to get it on while flying. Most of the time, she got caught. She explained that it's nearly impossible to get away with it.
But that's not even the worst of it! "I had sex in the chair on the plane and there was a guy watching. We ended up telling the air stewardess what was happening. Like, ‘This guy keeps staring at us. Can you tell him to stop?'" Needless to say, such shenanigans are incredibly rude both to staff as well as fellow passengers.
7 Josh Duhamel
We all know the procedure. Before the flight takes off, all devices need to be either turned on or set to airplane mode. Josh Duhamel must have thought that he was an exception to that rule: he refused to turn off his phone. The flight attendant asked him three times, but he just laughed in her face and taunted her.
That day, Duhamel learned that he wasn't going to get special treatment just because he was a celebrity. The plane was already on the runway, but it turned around and headed back to the terminal. There, the Las Vegas star had to leave the plane. He later apologized for his misdemeanor.
6 Jonathan Rhys Myers
Jonathan Rhys Myers has a history of portraying intimidating characters, but he can also scare people in real life. In 2018, he draw attention to himself before boarding a flight with his wife and child. He was incredibly mean to her and to the staff. When it was time to board, he demanded special treatment because he was first class. During the flight, he drank a lot of alcohol and acted erratically. His wife later on posted an explanation on her Instagram account, apologizing in her husband's name.
5 Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin's story is similar to Josh Duhamel's, only it received even more publicity. In 2011, he refused to stop playing a game on his iPad before take off. He took matters into his own hands by heading off to the lavatory, slamming the door shut after himself. The staff threw him off the plane.
Considering Alec Baldwin has seven children, one would expect he'd know a thing or two about compromise! And what was the game that Baldwin simply couldn't stop playing? It was Words with Friends.
4 Nicki Minaj
In 2020, an LAX employee/TikToker @_sincindy revealed some juicy gossip about rude celebrities on planes. While Jennifer Aniston and Robert Pattinson are among well-behaved celebrities, Nicki Minaj got a ranking of 2 out of 10.
"She was a huge b*tch and wouldn't get off the aircraft until everybody else got off, which she can't do because the flight attendants need to get off." Minaj might be one of the best female rappers of all time, but she definitely lost a fan or two that day.
3 Liam Gallagher
Liam Gallagher of Oasis threw one of the most famous airplane-related temper tantrums ever in 1998 when he flew with Cathay Pacific with the rest of the band. Not only did they smoke and disturb other passengers, Gallagher also got into a heated argument with one of the flight attendants. His A-lister status didn't get him off the hook: he is banned from flying with the Hong Kong airline for the rest of his life.
2 Naomi Campbell
The supermodel made headlines in 2008 when she had an incident flying British Airways. First, she claimed that they had lost her luggage, which realistically speaking, happens a lot in the world of air travel. Campbell had no understanding for her situation, though. She demanded that all the staff, including the pilot, help her look for it.
Naturally, her wish wasn't granted. Instead, she was walked out of the airport in London. Her reaction? She hit one of the staff members with her phone. Justice was served, though. According to The Sun, she had to do 200 hours of community service.
1 Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber has cleaned up his act since he married Hailey, but back in the day, he was often rude and inconsiderate to those around him. Including the pilot of his private jet! According to Vanity Fair, Bieber and his father were both abusive to the staff. Additionally, the pop star smoked so much while on board that the pilots had to wear an oxygen mask!
