Even if you've never heard of the name Jyoti Amge, you may be familiar with her face. She appeared on American Horror Story: Freak Show in 2014, where she played the character Ma Petite. She also managed to land herself in Guinness World Records for being the smallest living woman: Amge stands at 24 inches tall and only weighs 12 pounds.
Her size is caused by a genetic disorder called achondroplasia, which is said to be a bone growth disorder.
Recently, Amge, now 26, has managed to find herself back in the media. This time, it's for an upcoming appearance on TLC, in a new series titled The World's Smallest Woman: Meet Jyoti. This will be Amge's first television appearance since American Horror Story.
The series will chronicle Amge's adventures in America. In the YouTube clip uploaded by TLC, it was revealed that Jyoti came to America not just because she loves the lifestyle, but also because she hopes to continue her acting career.
Other than the lifestyle and wanting to continue her acting career, she's also in America for something a little more serious: she's looking for a way to resolve her health issues, as she experiences constant pain in her legs.
In the clip, she's seen meeting with some doctors in order to get X-rays done. The next part shows Amge in a clothing store, where she experiences leg pain. Her parents are also shown praying for her legs to heal.
“I have fame, I have friends, but because of my legs, I can’t live my life to the fullest. I just want my life to get better,” she says.
She's also seen doing a height comparison with a nine month old baby in a grocery store aisle, flirting with a man she encounters while at a bowling alley, getting approached by fans who compliment her on her role and performance in American Horror Story, and going shopping and trying on clothes.
Needless to say, despite the pain she must endure, she's still doing her absolute best to live her best life possible.
World's Smallest Woman: Meet Jyoti will premiere on Thursday July 9th on TLC.
