Toast The King In The North With Ommegang's New Jon Snow Specialty Brew

HBO Licensing and Retail has partnered with New York-based Brewery Ommegang to create their newest Game of Thrones-themed beer called "King in the North". The brew draws inspiration from and is a tribute to popular character Jon Snow – portrayed by Kit Harington – and is the fourth and final beer in the company's Royal Reserve Collection.

According to the release, the King in the North brew is a barrel-aged imperial stout that "pours jet black with a thick tan head," and features "aromas of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate blend with those of oak, bourbon, and vanilla." So basically, die-hard fans and beer connoisseurs will be able to enjoy a brew that is as dark and sensual as Jon Snow, perfect for riding out winter – or any other season for that matter.

“There was only one character with whom we could end the Royal Reserve Collection,” Doug Campbell, Brewery Ommegang president, said in a statement. “I don’t think we’re alone in our hopes for Jon Snow." As for the vice president of licensing & retail at HBO, Jeff Peters, he is expecting this new brew to bring fans to their feet to toast the King in the North.

The beer will also be featured as part of a gift pack, which includes all four Royal Reserve collection beers and a collectible Game of Thrones glass, all of which is expected to retail for $24.99. The existing beers include Hand of the Queen, a barleywine, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, a sour blonde blend, and Mother of Dragons, a smoked porter and kriek blend.

The final season of HBO's award-winning show was rumored to hit the screens in April of 2019, but now, according to Huffpost US, it seems fans will have to wait a little longer for winter to come and for the ultimate season of the beloved HBO hit series. In the meantime, let us raise our glasses to the King in the North!
