Tom Cruise has led quite an interesting career over the years. Beyond committing to doing his own stunts in action movies or being nominated for Oscars, he somehow manages to always come under some kind of scrutiny, whether he is jumping up on couches or preaching the good word of Scientology.

We all know what the media and the general public eye have to say about Tom Cruise by now, but what about those who are actually close enough to have gotten to know him over the years? Specifically, those who have worked for him? Here is what some former staffers have said about him.

10 Protecting Him Opens Doors

Working with any famous actor tends to open big doors, even if acting is your primary profession. For years, Sean Ringgold's profession was being a bodyguard to the stars. Not only for Tom Cruise but Justin Bieber.

Hollywood took notice of his large stature and his efficiency as a security guard and came knocking on his door with movie and TV opportunities. More recently, he has had guest-starring roles in Billions, Luke Cage, Orange is the New Black, The Family Business, and Law and Order. You may also recognize him for playing Suge Knight in Notorious or Shaun from One Life to Live.

9 He Hates John Travolta

Strange thing for any high profile celeb to admit to their employee, but perhaps he just has that much trust for his employees. He certainly trusted Brendan Tighe, another former bodyguard of Cruise's. He spoke to Daily Mail about Cruise's feud with John Travolta that was apparently all about Travolta's jealousy over Cruise's high rank in the Scientology field.

Travolta was apparently extremely jealous to see Cruise win the Freedom Medal of Valor - Scientology's highest honor - over him. Their beef got heated enough that Cruise didn't invite Travolta to his wedding to Katie Holmes. "I can assure you Travolta doesn't recognize Cruise as a superior in any way," said Tighe.

8 Keep A Tight Lip

Suzanne Hansen served as a nanny for Tom Cruise's kids back when he was still married to Nicole Kidman. Hansen recalled her experiences in her tell-all memoir called You'll Never Nanny In This Town Again, which is what Cruise probably said when he found out she started spilling all of his family secrets.

Among those secrets, she revealed that Cruise would write up strict confidentiality guidelines within actually contracts that he required all of his nannies to sign before caring for his kids.

7 He Might Be Prone To Lying

In the same afformentioned memoir as written by Suzanne Hansen, she alleged that a big reason why Cruise wanted his nannies to sign confidentiality agreements was so that he could tell the public only himself and Kidman were raising their children without any additional help.

"So basically, if [Cruise] went on camera and said how he didn't have any help raising his children, [we nannies] couldn't say anything," wrote Hansen. If he'd lie about raising his children without nannies, what else would he lie about?

6 Don't Touch His Hair

During an episode of The Project, a hair and makeup stylist recalled arriving on the set of The Mummy to work on Tom Cruise's hair. Right before shooting a scene one day, she tried to fix an out place strand of hair on Cruise's head, only to be told by his minder to "step away" from the actor.

Apparently, Cruise does not like his hair being touched. Ever. If he has to have his hair adjusted by anyone for any reason, it must occur only "in privacy."

5 It's Impossible To Leave Scientology

Sinar Parman served as the chef for Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's wedding in 1990. Like Cruise, Parman was a member of the Scientology community (as was his ex-wife Shelly Wolf, who was a personal assistant David Miscavige, the head of Scientology and Cruise's best man for his wedding).

Parman and Wolf tried to leave Scientology on and off for years and during one of these escapes, they were discovered by Scientologist security guards - per Radar Online - at the home of a distant relative and their luggage was searched for pictures and sensitive evidence from Cruise's wedding. Nothing was found.

4 He Worships Miscavige

Sticking to Scientology and David Miscavige for another second, another former staffer who came forward about Tom Cruise's religion is John Brosseau. In addition to being Miscavige's brother in law, he worked as a server in Tom Cruise's household during his marriage with Katie Holmes. He was told that he needed to make sure everything in the house was spotless at all times, "but be invisible."

Speaking to Village Voice, Brosseau spoke in-depth about Cruise's relationship with Miscavige and how he practically "worships" Miscavige just as much as he worships Scientology, suggesting the two go hand in hand.

3 Can't Be Close To His Exes

When some people break up with someone, they tend to expect their mutual friends to side with them alone and immediately break off contact with the partner they are no longer seeing. From the looks of it, this is also the case between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise upon their own breakup.

Not necessarily on behalf of Cruise himself, but more so on his ex Katie Holmes who reportedly fired her entire security team upon her divorce simply because the guards were too close with Cruise.

2 He Commits To His Health

There is a reason why Tom Cruise always looks so jacked in all of his movies, even at the age of 58 years old today. It is because he has access to some of the best trainers and chefs on the planet and always insists on a strict diet and exercise plan.

In keeping up with his diet, he employed Jennifer Pettijohn as his chef, who told The Telegraph how he had her employ a strict and organic raw food diet for himself. Sounds extreme.

1 He Inspires His Staff

Before becoming a comedian and a writer, Camille Solari's first job in Hollywood was working as a personal assistant to Tom Cruise. Apparently, the whole experience was so rewarding that she felt "inspired" - so she told the Boston Herald - to venture out on her own and start a career for herself.

She was inspired to write True, True Lie, a modern adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart that stars Jaime King and Annabelle Wallis, who almost a decade later starred with Cruise in The Mummy. It became a hit at film festivals before getting a limited theatrical run and DVD distribution.
