In Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland is just an actor. But in the real world, he has an actual superpower. And, no, we aren’t alluding to any kind of secret identity or spider web spinning. Holland, who is best known for playing Peter Parker, is not just an incredible actor. During quarantine, the star discovered that he is a surprisingly good hairdresser, as well.
But how did Holland get interested in cutting hair? And who was brave enough to offer their locks to Holland’s new hobby? We have done some digging into Tom Holland’s hobbies to clue fans into the actor’s shocking interest in hairstyling.
One Clip At A Time
For reasons we all know (#RIPGoingOutside), there was a period last year that almost all businesses were forced to shut down. That, incidentally, included barbershops and hair salons.
But that didn’t stop Tom Holland’s little brother Harry Holland from getting a haircut.
With the help of celebrity hairstylist Christine Nelli, Tom was able to clip his brother’s locks and broadcast it on Instagram live. Christine, who was only able to coach her new apprentice remotely, tried her best to see Harry’s hair through the video camera. She then gave Tom directions, explaining which equipment to use and where.
As we can all imagine, the virtual haircut was not ‘smooth sailing.’ At one point, there was some confusion about the proper way to hold a pair of scissors. Christine literally had to show Tom how to put his thumb in the hole of the grip, before the actor could start cutting.
In the end, however, both Tom and Harry were pleased with the result. The actor even divulged that he was “proud” of his work.
Fans Are ‘Here For It’
The road to Harry’s haircut wasn’t exactly easy, but fans were really excited to watch their favorite actor try out his new talent. Many folks even sent messages to Tom, encouraging him to ‘keep at’ the clipping.
One social media user started gushing over Tom’s hair cutting abilities. “So Tom Holland is cute, funny, adorable AND a professional at cutting hair,” she commented, “Btw can you cut my hair please?“ Well, he has certainly locked down one potential customer!
Another fan tweeted, “I’m surprised the end result actually wasn’t too bad.” Hm, that’s certainly a less enthusiastic endorsement, but after watching Tom struggle with the scissors— we’ll take it!
Tom’s biggest fan at the end of all of this, however, was definitely his brother Harry.
After patiently letting Tom work on his hair for almost an hour, Harry finally took a look at the finished product. And he was into it! “I think it looks fine,” he told the camera, “I’m quote happy with it.” How’s that for a successful first hair cut?
Now we will just have to wait and see if Tom will ever do anything similar again. Fingers crossed that he will!
