She may have grown up with a famous (and very rich) father, but Tori Spelling has had a rough time of it in the spotlight. While she used to be a high-profile actress, she's sort of fallen from grace for a variety of reasons.

For one thing, she faked a pregnancy as a joke on social media, which drew the ire of some fans. But she's also charged fans for an online meet-and-greet with her, not to mention made some missteps with her social media captions.

Overall, most people -- even fans -- admit that Tori's track record in the spotlight is a bit messy (and she seems to agree). And a couple of years ago, she made another misstep by allegedly using her daughter to scam people.

Tori Spelling Promoted Her Daughter's Business

In 2019, Tori's daughter Stella started a slime company. The campaign for Stylish Slime by Stella started with plenty of social media snaps of Stella making slime, and a lot of Tori's followers were all over the tween's business endeavor.

Taking advantage of kids' obsession with all kinds of slime was a smart business move, but what happened next definitely wasn't.

Bad Business Moves Ruined The Whole Operation

Though Tori no doubt helped her daughter set up the company (and its now-defunct social media pages) and sang Stella's praises in the early stages, their customers were largely dissatisfied.

In fact, various customers who allegedly made orders with the company never received their goods. Multiple accounts of parents complaining on their children's behalf (many parents said their kids used their own money to order Stella's slime) marred Stylish Slime by Stella's image.

Other customers complained that they had waited for months for their packages to no avail. At the same time, Stella went to Slime Con 2 to promote her wares, which her customers took as a really bad business move.

After all, if she didn't have time to fill orders or make more products, how did she have time for a publicity stunt at a public event? Of course, fans blamed Tori and her husband for their mismanagement of their daughter's company.

Consumers Blame Tori For The "Scam"

Even if the business venture didn't work out, consumers complained, Tori could have used the experience as a teaching moment for her daughter.

Giving customers refunds, or closing down the company's ordering page until they could play catch up on the backlog, would have taught Stella more than just quitting the whole thing.

Instead, it really seemed like Tori was OK with taking consumers' money and walking away with it, complained some observers.
