A year ago, TheThings sat down with Torry Hermann to talk about love, her ideal first date, and the importance of never settling.
Today, she's a happily married woman - and, as anyone following her on social media will know, she scored a movie-worthy proposal in Times Square not too long ago!
We sat down with Torry once again, to hear more about the engagement and her relationship with Vito Glazers ... and, as is always the case with the content creator, we managed to squeeze in a ton of laughs along the way.
Torry Gushes Over Vito Glazers' Epic Proposal
Few things can top a proposal in the middle of Times Square at the best of times. Throw in a surprise camera crew, and it's the stuff of movies.
Best of all, though, is despite the meticulous planning that went into it, she genuinely had no idea what was coming.
"I totally did not expect the proposal!"
Unsurprisingly, the moment was her highlight of the summer - but the little details are sure to keep her feeling the warm and fuzzies, all year round.
On top of being a 4-carat ring, Vito worked alongside RingPremier to incorporate something sentimental.
"There are two hidden stones," she smiles. "Vito's birthstone and mine."
Torry Clears Up Any Confusion Surrounding The Engagement
Nope, you're not imagining it: Torry was already married to Vito at the time of their engagement.
In fact, that's another reason why the comedian herself was so taken aback, she laughs.
"We got married in our kitchen with a priest and a bottle of champagne!" she laughs.
In light of that, she never really anticipated that they would get engaged. After all, they were already legally bound!
"I never thought we'd do things in the opposite order and end up getting engaged - let alone in Times Square."
Torry Gives Us A Little Backstory To Her Marriage
So, Torry and Vito got engaged after they were married ... but when did these two lovebirds meet in the first place, let alone say their 'I Do's'?
"We met over a year ago, but we really did get time to spend together and fall in love when I was on a solo vacation to Florida and California," she begins.
After time spent in Miami partying with her girlfriends, pampering herself in spas and heading to the beach, she was LA-bound.
Little did she know, though, that her husband-to-be was eager to get to know her better once she arrived.
"I made plans with friends who lived in Manhattan Beach to stay at their house for a week or so. I guess it was my Instagram story, 'La here I come,' that made Vito reach out and offer me a ride from the airport. He picked me up at LAX, we hugged, talked for an hour (and that was only the first 5 miles of LA traffic!) and ... we haven't spent a day apart, since."
Soon after that, they realized they'd met their soulmates in one another.
"It just felt so right. Everything in our lives aligned like a perfect puzzle. We are madly in love, yet have the same goals and vision of future, same values, and we respect each other's work and boundaries. I never really believed in soulmates until I met this crazy, funny man."
Is it any surprise, then, that they wasted no time making it official?
"42 days later, we got married," she beams.
Torry Laughs About Surprising The News With Her Loved Ones
Given how adamant Torry has always been about never settling, she knew that the news of her marriage would shock her nearest and dearest.
In fact, she laughs that many of them had given up on the idea of her ever finding someone to spend her life with.
"My friends first thought there was something with me, then eventually got used to the idea that I would always be single ... so imagine their shock when I called them after two months in California, saying, 'Hey, I got married!'"
Shock aside, Torry couldn't be happier - and she shares that it was when she met Vito that she realized just how ready she was to "get married and build a family."
"I just never really met somebody who I wanted all of that with, prior to Vito."
"To be honest," she chuckles, shrugging, "I always felt like I could do better."
She was clearly on to something there!
We couldn't be happier for Torry and Vito - the two who finally met their match.
