Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final book in the Twilight series. It is the most popular book as it satisfies all of the cravings that fans had in the previous books. The Twilight series is about a dangerous romance and Breaking Dawn brings said romance to a head with a wedding, a honeymoon, a pregnancy, a baby, and a possible war. Yeah, there is a lot going on. The book had to be split into two movies in order to capture each of the important events.

Because Breaking Dawn is an adaptation, the film came with restrictions. The makers had to take into consideration that most of its fan base had read the books. Therefore, the movie had to follow closely to what was written. The film was also restricted by its rating. Most of the Twilight fan base were pre-teens or teens (at the time) that couldn't watch a rated R film. These restrictions lead to the cast and crew finding the creative and fun solutions that are listed below.

15 Filmed In Baton Rouge Louisiana

Breaking Dawn was a huge filming project. The book had to be split into two separate movies in order to fit all of the important content. In order to cut costs on the budget, a lot of the film was shot in Baton Rouge. Most of the scenes filmed in Louisiana were indoor scenes filmed in a house or on a soundstage.

14 Kristen Stewart Had To Wear A Volturi Cloak Over Her Wedding Dress To Keep It A Secret

Twilight has a very intense fan base. Breaking Dawn was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Everyone, from fans to news outlets, was trying to get a peek at Bella's wedding dress. The crew even had to rent a helicopter to make sure things remained under wraps! It's no surprise that Bella had to wear a cape to cover herself.

13 You Can Visit The Honeymoon House In Brazil

You can visit one of the most romantic houses in the history of film in Brazil. Edward took Bella here for their honeymoon. This is the house where Bella and Edward consummated their marriage and where Renesmee was conceived. It also is the setting for the catalyst for Breaking Dawn Part Two.

12 Bella's Lingerie Was Insanely Hard To Find

If you've read the books or watched any of the movies, you'll know that the Cullens are insanely wealthy. Imagine how much money you could make if you never died and knew someone that could predict the future! The lingerie that Bella wears on her wedding night is insanely rare and retails for over $230 from Agent Provocateur.

11 The Wedding Was Filmed In Squamish Canada

The picture above is exactly the place where Edward and Bella stood during their reception. Taken in a forest in Squamish, Canada, this photo could be used side by side to show that there isn't a branch out of place from when they filmed here. As avid Twilight fans, we don't need to see a still from the movie to tell us that this photo is legit.

10 It Rained Every Day They Filmed The Honeymoon

Love may have been in the air while Stewart and Pattinson filmed, but so was rain! Every day that the cast and crew were shooting honeymoon scenes, it rained. While watching the movie and getting caught up in the romance, it's hard to remember that behind the camera are real people going through real situations that aren't as perfect as what's on screen.

9 A Lot Of The Birth Scene Wasn't Used As It Was Too Graphic

Twilight is known to have a very tween/teen fanbase. When Breaking Dawn was being made, the crew and cast tried to stick to the book as closely as possible. That ended up being a bad idea. Breaking Dawn was by far, the most graphic book of the series. A lot of the gory scenes from the book had to be cut in order to keep its PG-13 rating.

8 Cast And Crew Were Evacuated Because Of A Tsunami

Most of Bella's vampire scenes were filmed in Canada. In March of 2011, a tsunami raced up the coast due to the massive earthquake Japan had experienced. The cast and crew were quickly evacuated but managed to shoot all of the footage they needed for the day after being delayed for a few hours.

7 Renesmee's Birth Scene Took Two Nights To Film

There are a lot of things in the Twilight universe that don't make sense. Breaking Dawn tried to combat that by having experts during the filming process. The crew brought in Stephenie Meyer (the author) and doctors to make the birth scene feel authentic. It took them two nights to get it perfect.

6 Kristen Stewart Had To Be Locked In An Empty Room Before Shooting The Wedding Scenes

When millions of dollars are at stake, it's best not to take any chances. That's exactly what happened during the filming of Breaking Dawn. Once Kristen was in the wedding dress, she was locked in a secured room until she had to come out and shoot a scene. The crew and company couldn't afford paparazzi seeing her and leaking any part of the long awaited moment.

5 The Cast Couldn't See Through Their Colored Contact Lenses

Breaking Dawn had some questionable special effects in the film. Audiences speculated over whether the eye colors of the actors were as fake as Renesmee, but they were indeed real. The coloured contacts were so real that actors had a hard time seeing through them. Can you imagine how hard it must have been to act out a scene, not knowing where you're supposed to direct your lines?

4 Peter Facinelli Stole Carlisle's Ring

Not once, but twice! Facinelli loved playing Carlisle and wanted to keep something small from his character as a memento. One of the crew called him out on it and told him that they needed it for future filming so her brought it back. Later on, Facinelli "accidentally" left it in his pocket and took it home.

3 The Cast Was Cut By The Fake Snow Used On Set

Ever wonder what they use for fake snow on movie sets? Apparently, (at least on the set of Breaking Dawn) they use tiny bits of paper. Sounds harmless right? Wrong! These actors had to be very active in this snow. They had to run, jump, fight in battle scenes that took hours to perfect. All the while, getting small paper cuts from the the fake snow.

2 They Filmed A Love Scene That Was Rated R

The Breaking Dawn book left little to the imagination when it came to the consummation of Edward and Bella. And one of the top priorities of the cast and crew was to ensure that the film followed the book closely. Stewart and Pattinson originally filmed a much more graphic, intimate scene that corresponded with the book but it had to be cut in order to keep the PG-13 rating.

1 Kristen Stewart Didn't Feel Like She Was Filming A Twilight Film

With all of the gruesome and intimate scenes that were being filmed, Stewart recounts that she felt like she wasn't filming a Twilight film. By comparison, all of the other films had been much more PG in terms of on screen intimacy and gore. The Breaking Dawn book crossed a lot of lines that the other books never went near. It's no wonder that the actress felt like filming Breaking Dawn was a completely separate experience.
