In 1993, Michael Jackson was accused of abusing a child of a family friend. This eventually lead to lawsuit after lawsuit of defending himself against the accusations he was in no part of. His first lawsuit had Jackson not indicted due to lack of evidence. Years later in 2005, he would be accused again for the same reasons, with the trial being known as The People of the State of California v. Michael Joe Jackson.

On this day, June 13th, the jury found Jackson not guilty on all accounts, and there were hundreds of fans waiting anxiously outside for the results. They were in happy tears when it was announced he was announced innocent. Even though Jackson isn't alive anymore, fans continue to celebrate the anniversary of proving his innocence and clearing his name.

The jury involved with the 2005 case spent 32 hours and seven days discussing whether Jackson was innocent or guilty. Out of the 12 jurors, nine voted that he should be acquitted and three voted for guilty. The media coverage surrounding Jackson's was overwhelming, as many televisions around the world tuned into channels like CBS, NBC, and VH1 that featured television specials revolving around Jackson.

According to fans, Jackson's trial was considered an injustice to the history of law and journalism. With the lack of evidence and many testimonies from the likes of his friend and former child star, Macaulay Culkin, and actor Chris Tucker defending Jackson. The former's testimony especially helped Jackson out, as he has been friends with Jackson for years and stated that while he did share a bed with the singer, he never did anything that harmed him in any shape or form.

Fans on Twitter celebrate as they share Jackson's quotes, newspapers of Jackson being announced as innocent, and hope that he is still resting in peace despite recent claims going around thanks to the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland starring Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

Despite the documentary and lawsuits occurring to cause more rioting over whether Jackson was truly innocent or not, the cases have since been dismissed due to no evidence and even testifying for him back in 2005. Hopefully with the trial stuck in the past, that Jackson's family can find peace and honor his legacy.
