The famous Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was up for an Emmy Award, but lost.

Their two-hour televised conversation lost to a project that was made by esteemed producer Stanley Tucci.

The internet seemed to be pleased with the results, however, with many agreeing the clip did not deserve an award.

The Interview Was Up For An Emmy, But Lost

On Sunday, there was a pre-ceremony for the Emmys, which are held on the 19th.

It was at last night’s event that the winner of the best-hosted nonfiction series category was announced.

The famous interview where Harry and Meghan dished on leaving the royal family because of pressure and racism, was nominated.

The video, which Harry reportedly regrets, racked up almost 50 million views in the first couple days after it was broadcast.

Oprah and her team, who were up for the award since it was her production, lost out to Stanley Tucci’s series about Italian cuisine.

Twitter Users Were Happy To Hear It Lost

After the news came out that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview did not snag an Emmy, the reactions were mostly pleased.

People seemed to share an overall sentiment that the couple speaking with Oprah was not an award-worthy creation.

Many were in disbelief that it was ever up for a nomination in the first place.

“Why would they even consider that performance for an Emmy?? Ridiculous,” one person wrote.

“This was up for an Emmy - seriously? Who cares about their story. This is America not the UK. We have our own S to worry about,” someone else stated.

“Good, there is no way that interview deserved any kind of award,” another user tweeted.

A few people said that they thought the interview should be in the fiction category because they don’t believe what the royals were saying.

“Because a docu/interview based on lies and mistruths by a couple of woke privileged will never win. Should have won the best fiction category though,” one person stated.

"Well it was in the wrong category, it should have been in the fiction section!" another person said.
