The Gabby Petito case has bewildered America for over a week, since she was first reported missing on September 11.

But she may have been deceased by then, many people fear, after the latest development in the case.

On Sunday, investigators searching the area in Wyoming where she was last seen found a body that they reported as "consistent with the description" of the 22-year-old girl who was trying to make money being a blogger.

Many Reports Say The Body Found Yesterday Is Likely Petito

She was last heard from in late August while they were in Grand Teton National Park, and after two weeks of no contact, her parents reported her missing.

Her fiancé Brian Laundrie, who was with her on the trip, was found back home in Florida with her van and would not speak to the cops about where Gabby was or what happened to her.

He has since vanished and is presumed to be hiding, since the authorities labeled him a person of interest last week.

Then yesterday, authorities announced they found human remains that look like Gabby in the area where she disappeared from.

While it has not been confirmed yet that it is her, most people are jumping to that conclusion.

The Internet Is Furious With How The Police Handled Things

People on Twitter are sad that it is likely Petito's remains that have been found, but many are also mad about how the police handled the case.

Laundrie avoided cops and lawyered up once Gabby was reported missing, which many people found very suspicious.

But authorities never forced her fiancé to speak with them about Gabby's disappearance before he also vanished - and Twitter users are saying that they bungled the case.

Actress Kirstie Alley expressed disbelief that the authorities refused the act.

"How can this boyfriend of Gabby Petito REFUSE to tell police or her family where she last was? And how can someone not be forced to give information to the family legally? I don’t understand. Arrest him for THEFT of her VAN at least!" she wrote.

"I do not understand how he was allowed to not speak to police at all, and then completely disappear," another person said.
