The lawsuit has been filed by a woman who claims the comedian asked her for pictures when she was 17.
On March 2nd, The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, claimed the comedian had sex with her and solicited more than a hundred sexually explicit photos and videos from her. The plaintiff also alleged half of the pictures were taken when she was 17 years old.
According to the plaintiff, D’Elia and the plaintiff had sex after he persuaded her to attend one of his shows in 2014. In a statement from Doe’s attorneys reported by Variety, it is said that during the encounter “Mr. D’Elia expressed that Ms. Doe’s age, innocence, and virginity made the encounter ‘hot.’”
Twitter Points Out D’Elia Is Just Like His Character On ‘You’
Twitter reacted to the news of D’Elia being sued, following the multiple claims of sexual misconduct he denied last year.
Some made jokes about every resemblance between D’Elia and his character on Netflix hit show You, where he plays a sexual predator targeting young girls.
“Well I guess now we know why Chris D'Elia was cast to play Hendy in YOU,” someone tweeted including the Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man meme.
“Chris D'Elia, the amazing method actor in Netflix's You,” was another comment.
“Chris D'Elia facing child porn charges after saying there were "no pedophiles in Hollywood" is funnier than any joke he's made in his stand-up career,” reads another tweet.
Before ‘You,’ D’Elia Played A Sexual Predator On ‘Workaholics’
A Twitter user also pointed out that, well before his You days, D’Elia played a pedophile on an episode of Workaholics aired in 2011.
“I remember the days when the most offensive thing about Chris D’Elia was how criminally unfunny he was,” they wrote.
"The first time Chris D’Elia came onto my radar was when he appeared on the show Workaholics as a weed-smoking pedophile. Funny how they reveal themselves,” they added.
Last June, D’Elia was accused of sexual misconduct. A woman named Simone Rossi posted a lengthy thread of alleged interactions between her and D’Elia on June 17. The conversations took place when she was 16. Multiple women then opened up about their experience with D’Elia, who denied all claims.
