Singer Demi Lovato and Schitt's Creek actor Emily Hampshire may be the new celebrity couple on the rise!

On a recent episode of Lovato's podcast, 4D With Demi Lovato, the non-binary host recalled their crush on the pansexual actor. But things didn't work out as they hoped as Hampshire had to let them down easy.

Hampshire, 40, joked around with Lovato about the time that the younger star asked her if she wanted to "kick it." Sliding into her DM's, 29-year-old Lovato reportedly wrote, "Hey girl, I like you on the show. We should kick it sometime." They boldly clarified, "And by kick it, I mean go on a date. I find you attractive."

After Hampshire expressed her disinterest in the 11-year age gap, Lovato compared them to the celebrity couple, Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor. These two actors have a 32-year age difference between them. Lovato tried to save face by clarifying that they weren't calling Hampshire "old."

However, despite this embarrassing story, Lovato was shameless about their crush. Sharing the video of their podcast, they wrote, "This week on #4DwithDemi tune in to hear how I slid into @emilyhampshire DMs and tried to ask her out on a date. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Fans found the two to be totally "shippable," and they rushed to rave about the duo in Lovato's comments. One fan wrote, "Guys, I’m absolutely going to need dinner on Saturday to happen. Please and thank you."

Another added, "I absolutely LOVED this episode. Both of you have such amazing laughs. I ship this friendship and whatever else it may evolve into."

A third tweeted, "I didn’t know that Emily Hampshire and Demi Lovato was the duo that I NEEDED!"

While Hampshire has been open about her sexuality, since finding fame through Schitt's Creek, she has stated that she isn't looking to be an LGBT+ icon. In June 2021, she told People Magazine, "I could never. I'm Canadian, I could never see myself [as an icon], or say that I am an icon within this space!"

She went on to full-heartedly express her thoughts on her fluid sexuality. Hampshire said, "I'm proud, and I believe in visibility. I do think that the power in coming out is, when you come out, you make it human. My dream is one day, there will be no having to segregate it, identify it."

While Hampshire doesn't seem to share the same interest as Lovato, it's safe to say that their fans are totally into it. Who knows? Maybe as Lovato matures, the age gap won't be as big as a turn-off for the Schitt's Creek star.
