The Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has published some new controversial comments on her Twitter account.

Earlier this month, the Scottish writer defended Milli Hill, a fellow author who had been called out for not being trans-inclusive in her book about obstetric violence.

Rowling’s tweet reignited the debate on her trans-exclusionary views. The writer then published a Twitter thread on July 19 where she said she has received online abuse, including death and rape threats.

J.K. Rowling Slammed After She Opens Up On Online Abuse

“[…] now hundreds of trans activists have threatened to beat, rape, assassinate and bomb me I’ve realised that this movement poses no risk to women whatsoever,” Rowling wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, she thanked her fans and supporters and hinted at being busy writing her new book in the series of detective Cormoran Strike.

“Got to get back to my chapter now, but to all the people sending me beautiful, kind, funny and supportive messages, thank you so much. Wish I had time to answer all of you, but Strike and Robin are at a tricky stage of their investigation, so I need to drop a few clues,” the author wrote.

The writer was slammed for her comments.

“So now u might understand how a trans person feels as they’re subjected to this treatment & threats on the regular basis. While most likely nothing will happen to you, millions of trans ppl around the world have to live in a society that encourages (by you) this violent behavior,” one Twitter user responded.

“Maybe, (hear me out here) if you use your massive platform to post harmful rhetoric about marginalized people, some of those people getting very upset with you and DMing you reprehensible s**t.... isn't actually that weird? Maybe it's kind of expected, actually?” was another comment.

“Threatening people is definitely not ok. I don't agree with your stance on this issue, vehemently don't agree, but I don't believe your stance comes from hate. That doesn't mean that it's not hurting a lot of people,” another tweet reads.

Rowling Posted Her Transphobic Views Last Year

Last year, Rowling published a lengthy post in which she wrote about the importance of biological sex and the dangers of letting young kids identifying as trans start their transition early.

She then goes on to explain that, as a domestic abuse survivor, she is sympathetic to “natal girls and women” — a hideous expression for cisgender girls and women — who could experience the same abuse in public bathrooms and changing rooms at the hands of “any man who believes or feels he’s a woman”.
