Fans of Chris Evans and Selena Gomez woke up to a treat this Thursday morning as the two stars were trending on Twitter for dating.
But is it true? Twitter certainly seems to think so. And even if these rumors remain unconfirmed, Evans and Gomez are already Hollywood's latest "celebrity power couple" in the eyes of social media.
Chris Evans began trending on Twitter after a TikTok video claiming the pair were an item gained over 1.3 million views in less than 24 hours. Fans left the comment section and took their discussions to Twitter, where the rumors really kicked off, with Selena Gomez trending soon after.
It seems that Evans himself might be to blame for this flurry of attention, as the Captain America star followed the Only Murders In The Building actress on Instagram last week. While Gomez, 29, is yet to follow the 40-year-old actor back on the platform, she has made it known in the past about a secret crush she harbored on the Marvel alumni. "Isn't he cute?" she asked Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen in 2015.
Some thought that perhaps Evans followed the "Rare" singer on Instagram because they are set to be working together. But rumors that the two were working on a project after they were seen leaving the same studio last week seem to be just that - rumors. Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that the alleged photos of Gomez were actually taken in 2019, and the false story is what led to the gossip beginning in the first place.
But that hasn't stopped fans from speculating about the potential couple, and it seems like everybody has something nice to say.

One fan pointed out that a few days after Gomez said she hates hiking, Evans posted an Instagram story hiking with his dog. "Why does the universe hate me?" they asked. "I have literally never seen coincidences between their posts before but as soon as he followed her my brain keeps making connections. I’m going insane."
They weren't the only fans getting caught up over the rumor mill. "I am checking Twitter and Google every now and then for a confirmation about Chris Evans and Selena Gomez dating. Help!!" wrote one overwhelmed supporter, while others still think we need to check in on Lizzo, whose heart beats for Chris Evans in its own particular way.
We're hoping this relationship amounts to something as much as everyone, but, if not, well, there's always photoshop.
