Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon is being attacked by Twitter trolls this morning after pictures from last night's Met Gala showed what some critics online have decided is a little too unsavory.

The 24-year-old model and daughter of music's highest-paid artist was looking striking in a Moschino gown by Jeremy Scott sparkly two-piece fuschia bra and skirt combo.

But it was what the outfit's bikini-style halter top revealed that has left people upset. Posing on the red carpet at her first Met Gala event, poking her tongue out and lifting her arms high above her head, Leon proudly showed off her underarm hair.

Expectedly, the online trolls were quick to complain. "Desperately seeking attention," wrote one commentator, referencing her mother's classic 1985 film with the same name.

"Armpit hair is a dealbreaker sorry it’s gross," added another. And the comments kept coming.

"At the Met Gala, Madonna's daughter, Lourdes, proudly showed off her ample armpit hair. How ample? She looked like she had two Kardashian sisters in head locks," attacked one Twitter bully.

"At the Met Gala, Madonna's daughter, Lourdes, proudly showed off her ample, unruly armpit hair. 'Wow, that is really sexy,' said no human being," alleged someone else.

And one troll was certainly uninspired by Leon's dismissal of the razor. "To all the women who are my mutuals shave your damn armpits," they tweeted, "it's gross to let hair grow there."

And one critic is even worried that they will have to see this "trend" more often when looking at red carpet pictures. "So I guess this armpit hair thing will now be a thing?" they wrote. "All it takes is one so-called celebrity to start the movement."

This isn't the first time the Vogue cover girl has shown off her body hair. Back in 2017, she sparked an internet debate over underarm shaving after paparazzi snapped photos of the then 20-year-old showing off underarm hair on vacation in Miami. She has frequently appeared sporting the same look on her Instagram, and for photoshoots including a February 2021 Marc Jacobs campaign.

As for her mother, who is no stranger to controversy herself, Madonna supports her daughter, having rocked the same look on and off over her many decades in the spotlight.

“I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle,” Madonna told Harper’s Bazaar in 2011. “I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”
