The UK's very first Pokémon Center is now open in London but if you want to pay it a visit, we wouldn't hang around for long.
We are now just a few weeks away from the much-anticipated release of Pokémon Sword and Shield on Nintendo Switch. The games will introduce us to even more creatures from the incredibly wide Pokémon universe and almost definitely take the Pokédex's tally beyond the 900 mark. The games will also be the first set in the Galar region which was clearly inspired by the UK.
If the shape of the map, industrial towns, and fancy-looking Pokémon weren't evidence enough that this game is set in Pokémon's take on the UK, a new center that just opened in London should be. While Pokémon Centers have opened in Japan and the US in the past, this is the first of its kind in the UK.
The store opened in Westfield shopping center over the weekend and features all sorts of goodies any avid Pokémon fan will want to get their hands on. There are even a few items exclusive to the center which will never be sold anywhere else. Well, aside from eBay after people who buy them decide they might be able to make a pretty penny from selling them on.
As has been the case since Pokémon's induction during the 1990s, Pikachu takes pride of place in London's Pokémon Center. However, it's Pikachu as you will have never seen him before. The small, yellow Pokémon is clad in a suit and bowler hat and even has an accompanying umbrella with a Psyduck handle. Not only is British Pikachu emblazoned on the store window, but you can also buy soft toy versions of it inside.
If you're a big Pokémon fan and want to get your hands on some of the exclusive goodies in London's Pokémon Center, don't sit on your laurels. The store is open right now but it won't be sticking around for long. It will be open through November 15, 2019, the day on which Sword and Shield hit game store shelves. Pay the center a visit soon, and then head home to play Sword and/or Shield. Perfect!
