UPS just announced that they will be introducing brand new electric delivery trucks. They're super cute too. The trucks will come in their customary brown color and yellow logo but are a bit more delicate looking. They're very adorable in a delivery truck sort of way. These new trucks are smaller and have rounded edges. It just works in terms of design. Most importantly, each truck is electric, needing only a battery to run.

UPS teamed up with a UK-based company, ARRIVAL, to reduce their carbon footprint. The new trucks will not have any tailpipes to release emissions and will have a 150-mile battery radius. At first, only 35 trucks will be commissioned and they'll be tested on the streets of London and Paris. The rounded design isn't just for looks, it enables drivers to see their surroundings better, including pedestrians and cyclists as an additional safety feature. UPS will have their new trucks on the road and making deliveries by the end of the year.

UPS has been a global leader in sustainability since the 1930's. This was when they first introduced electric vehicles into their fleet. They were reintroduced in 2001 and since 2009, UPS has spent $750 million in an effort to go greener using alternative fuel sources and advanced technology. Last December, UPS purchased 125 Tesla trucks. They also reached a self-set goal of driving 1 billion miles using alternative fuel sources. UPS has over 9,000 vehicles operating around the globe meaning they have the ability to make a significant difference in the world. Their initiatives could also inspire other global companies to reduce their carbon footprint.

Going green as a large corporation isn't easy so UPS's commitment is refreshing in these times of much-needed sustainability.
