The US Navy has just confirmed that leaked footage from several years ago purporting to show a UFO is real.
A couple of years ago, footage appeared on To the Stars Academy Of Arts And Sciences' YouTube page, an organization dedicated to extraterrestrial life and proving their existence. It was started by former Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge, who has long championed the belief that there is life in outer space and that it has visited Earth many times in the past.
Which all sounded pretty crazy until DeLonge and his Academy posted several videos back in 2017. They were all footage taken from a US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet's infrared tracking system while it was traveling at roughly 300 mph at 25,000 feet above sea level.
What it shows is pretty strange. It's a small, ovular blob that was matching the craft in terms of speed. The fighter jet's pilot and radar officer call it a drone on the footage but weren't able to positively identify it as such.
Drones are certainly a thing that exists and their shape often diverges from the classic lines of what we would consider aircraft, but nothing currently exists that is shaped like an egg and can fly at 300 mph. At least, nothing that we know of.
At the time, the footage was said to be leaked from sources within the Navy. The Academy sought to have that footage verified, and after several years, the Navy has come forward and confirmed that it is indeed real footage taken from a real US Navy fighter.
“The Navy considers the phenomena contained/depicted in these videos as unidentified,” said Navy spokesman Joseph Gradisher in an interview with The Black Vault, a UFO fansite. “The Navy has not publicly released characterizations or descriptions, nor released any hypothesis or conclusions, in regard to the objects contained in the referenced videos.”
Right now, the most likely explanation for the object in the footage is a top-secret drone utilizing a brand new propulsion system as it made no exhaust and seemed to not require wings. Or it could be the first conclusive proof we have of extraterrestrial life.
We won’t know for sure until the government unveils a crazy new drone or the aliens come knocking on our door.
