Do you feel like you need some sun this winter but you're too broke to spring for the plane tickets? Have you always dreamed of visiting the gorgeous island of St Lucia? Is your name Lucy? If you answered "yes" to all of these questions, then we have good news for you! You can now enter for the chance to win a free flight to gorgeous St Lucia, thanks to Virgin Holidays' new contest, Lucy's In St Lucia.
English philanthropist Richard Branson's popular UK travel company launched a competition on March 7 to give a few lucky Lucy's (or Lucia's) the chance to visit the Caribbean island on their dime, all for sharing the same name as the beautiful location. There's definitely never been a better time to be a Lucy, especially if you're itching to escape the winter blahs without breaking the bank.
According to Metro, three Virgin Holidays travel consultants, Lucy Messina, Lucy McManus, and Lucy Hudson, all traveled to the idyllic getaway to see what the fuss was about, and they weren't disappointed, calling it an "incredible country with beautiful scenery and beautiful people." Doesn't exactly sound like a drag, does it?

Did you know that Saint Lucia is the only country in the world named after a woman? Women continue to shape the destination it is today, with the nation boasting the third highest number of female bosses per capita in the world, and over 50% of management roles held by women 👊 Today we’re celebrating the Lucys, the Lucias and all the women who help make the Virgin family so incredible. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2019
The competition coincides with International Women's Day (March 8) and has been specifically chosen to honor the only country in the world named after a woman. The island was dubbed St Lucia by French explorers who found it, naming it after Christian martyr St Lucy of Syracuse.
While this contest sounds like an absolute dream, particularly if your name is Lucy, there is a bit of a catch - you must have the name Lucy on your official passport, and you have to be a UK resident to apply. As long as you fit those conditions, you're all clear to enter and hope for the best!
With crystal clear waters and a stunning coastline, the island of St Lucia has been a tourist hotspot for quite some time. The rich and famous have often been spotted enjoying the tropical climate, including supermodel Tyra Banks. Actor Matt Damon renewed his vows at Sugar Beach, renting out the entire hotel and shelling out around $1 million dollars for the privilege. Even Oprah Winfrey lists the country as one of her top five destinations, so it can't be half bad, can it?
If your name is Lucy and you live in the UK, be sure to enter Virgin Holiday's competition before its closing date on March 11. That's only a few days away, so don't miss your chance to rub shoulders with some of Hollywood's finest - you never know who you might bump into on the beach!

Think of us while you're lazing on that white sand, sipping on a Pina Colada, won't you? And if you don't win, all is not lost. Virgin Holidays love a good competition, so keep your eyes peeled for more in the coming summer months!
