George Clooney is celebrating his 60th birthday today (May 6) and Twitter appears to poke fun at him in the best possible way.

Happy Birthday To Amal Clooney's Husband, George

One Twitter user screen-grabbed what seems to be a Twitter trend topic marking the actor and director’s birthday.

“Amal Clooney’s husband turns 60 on May 6,” the description reads.

“this description of George Clooney is taking me out,” the user who reposted the screengrab added.

Is Twitter poking fun at George Clooney? Some of his fans know the joke goes way back to the 2015 Golden Globes hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Clooney and British human rights activist and lawyer Amal Alamuddin tied the knot in 2014. At the ceremony the following year, The Midnight Sky director was set to be honoured with the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.

“George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year," Fey said on stage at the award show.

"Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected to a three-person U.N. commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.”

The skit also took aim at some media coverage around the time of the wedding that failed to focus on Amal’s achievements and simply branded her Clooney’s wife.

George Clooney Who? Joke Fans

“She's a human rights lawyer, he…has human rights? I can't think of any other claim to fame. Was he in an episode of some TV show?” one user joked.

"Oh right, that guy,” another fan commented.

“This reminds me of when they announced their marriage in the British news. "Amal Alamuddin, international rights barrister, marries actor,” was another comment.

Amal Clooney and her husband have been married for seven years now and have two children together. Ella and Alexander, born in 2017.

In 2020, the actor revealed that his twins are fluent in Italian due to spending time in the family’s residence in Laglio on Lake Como.

“We did a really dumb thing which is, they speak fluent Italian,” Clooney told Jimmy Kimmel.

"I mean fluent Italian at three. But I don't speak Italian, my wife doesn't speak Italian, so we've armed them with a language,” the actor continued.
