WandaVision has made MCU history becoming the first Marvel Studios project to be nominated at the Emmys today (July 13).

The series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Vision respectively has been nominated for Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series.

A love letter to television packing an emotional punch, the Disney+ show created by Jac Shaeffer premiered in January this year to raving reviews. The first series in Phase Four of the MCU, WandaVision has scored a total of 23 Emmy nominations, including nods to its stars in the major acting categories.

‘WandaVision’ Received A Total Of 23 Emmy Nominations

WandaVision is the third most-nominated series at the Emmys this year, having received nods in more than 20 categories. Only The Crown and The Mandalorian did better, scoring 24 nods each.

Alongside the major nod for Outstanding Limited Series, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany have been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Limited Series respectively. Moreover, the role of WandaVision’s resident nosy neighbor and villain Agnes aka Agatha Harkness earned actress Kathryn Hahn a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series.

But that is not all. The series’ director Matt Shakman is also nominated, and so is the writing team for three of the nine episodes. Another MCU series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, was nominated in five categories, including Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series to Don Cheadle.

Kat Dennings Joins ‘WandaVision’ Fans And Celebrates The Show On Twitter

WandaVision star Kat Dennings, who reprised her role as Dr. Darcy Lewis on the show, was among the first to publicly react to the plethora of nominations.

“CRYING ALL THE WAY TO THE GRAVE!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS WANDAVISION,” Dennings tweeted.

“Elizabeth Olsen - sorry, that’s Emmy-Nominated Actress Elizabeth Olsen - was nothing short of spectacular in #WandaVision and I’m so happy to see that talent rewarded. One of the greatest performances on any screen, the Scarlet Witch deserves this,” one comment on Twitter reads.

“Congrats to @MarvelStudios with their first-ever #Emmys nods for #WandaVision, plus its stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. An outstanding show w/ sparkling originality & a true triumph for the MCU’s first television series, too,” was another comment.

Finally, one fan seems to have worked out one of the clues hidden in the first episode of the show.

“Now we know what the heart in the calendar stood for,” they wrote, hinting at the little heart Wanda and Vision notice on their calendar over August 23.

Was that a nod to the 23 nominations all along?
