Whoopi Goldberg is known for her witty writing, sharp political comments and acting role in the major cult classic Star Trek. But is she known as a Master Chef? Not so much.

Luckily for fans, Goldberg filmed the experience and shared it with her followers on social media. The result is such a precious moment between gals of different generations that folks watching at home might actually melt when they watch it. Will the video save 2020? Maybe not, but it will sure make moments in lockdown that much sweeter.

Chaos In The Kitchen

In the clip, Goldberg admitted that she is not the best cook, but that did not stop her from having a good time. The Trekkie sensation took a minute at her kitchen counter to unpack ingredients from a cake making kit, meant to promote the film Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles.

Goldberg is clearly not much of a meal kit fanatic, because she seemed very confused by the contents of the box. “Ingredients? What the...oh, I see,” the television host muttered, as she examined the recipe. She then turned to the camera, threw her arms into the air and laughed. “They don’t know I can’t make anything!”

But that sure did not prevent Goldberg from trying. The star struggled—first with flipping the cake and aiming the can of whipped cream to the right part of the cake. Even Goldberg’s tiny great-granddaughter knew that something wasn’t right with the baked experiment, as the toddler repeatedly pointed to the part of the cake that was caving in.

A Positive Message

Despite all of the culinary challenges, Goldberg used the experience to spread a positive message. For one thing, she made sure that her viewers knew that perfection isn’t everything. “Sometimes it doesn’t look how it’s supposed to look, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t as good as it is,” she told the camera.

But, most importantly, Goldberg showed that the most important part of the cake was being able to spend quality time with her great-granddaughter. “If you’re having a good time making it, how bad could it be?”

At the end of the day, Goldberg could not teach her loved ones how to make a cake, but she could pass on the message that family time is the greatest gift of all.
