Some people earn $50,000 per year, while others spend that much just on child support.

While any divorce is difficult, the financial fallout for a famous couple is often much more severe. Child support payments can cost millions of dollars annually for well-known actors, musicians, and businessmen.

Famous people like Britney Spears have to shell out $20,000 a month to ensure the safety and comfort of their kids (and sometimes ex-spouses, too. We’re looking at you, Kevin Federline).

Who pays the highest amount of child support?

1 Angelina Jolie Accused Brad Pitt Of Not Supporting Their Kids

Historically, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were one of the most famous couples in Hollywood. They called it quits in 2016, and by 2018 Jolie was accusing Pitt of neglecting his child support duties.

Pitt's attorney refuted the claims, saying his client had granted the "Maleficent" actor $1.3 million in "bills" for both her and the kids since the split and loaned Jolie $8 million to purchase a house, according to a report on CNN.

In a statement, the lawyer for the Maleficent 2 star said, "A loan is not, however, child support and to represent it as such is misleading and inaccurate."

The Oscar winner stated her intention to pursue "retroactive child support" from her ex-husband. She also requests that the couple's marital status be "bifurcated," allowing them to legally end their marriage and resume their single lives while the divorce proceedings continue.

Katie Holmes blindsided Tom Cruise with divorce proceedings in 2012, completely out of the blue. She reportedly wanted sole custody of Suri Cruise, her six-year-old daughter, in order to remove her from the influence of the Church of Scientology, so the dispute was not totally about money.

Holmes was content with a $4.8 million child support agreement that would be spread out over Suri's first 18 years. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Tom paid for his daughter's "medical, dental, insurance, education, college, and other extracurricular costs."

Despite her ex-husband's estimated $250 million in assets, Holmes did not receive spousal support from him, according to TMZ. Therefore, Tom's divorce may not have affected his finances, but it did end his connection with his daughter, whom he supposedly hasn't seen since 2013.

In 2000, Madonna wedded film director Guy Ritchie at Scotland's Skibo Castle. This couple has two kids: one they had naturally and one they adopted.

Reuters reports that, after eight years of marriage, Madonna has given her ex-husband up to 60 million pounds ($92 million) to settle their child support payments, even though custody arrangements for the couple's children had not been finalized.

In 2015, Ritchie wed Jacqui Ainsley, making her his second wife. Madonna reportedly lost custody of their biological son Rocco in 2016 after a drawn-out legal battle. According to The Judiciary Report, the boy reportedly wanted to move to London with his father. Rocco has remained in London, far from his well-known mother.

The divorce between Kelsey Grammer and Camille was one of the ugliest in Hollywood history. After 13 years of marriage to the "Cheers" and "Frasier" actor, Camille, star of the Bravo reality show of the same name, filed for divorce in July 2010.

It's safe to say that Kelsey's divorce from Camille in 2011 was a speedy one, as he wed his current wife, the retired flight attendant Kayte Walsh, only two weeks later.

According to TMZ, Camille reportedly received $30 million in the divorce proceedings, which is roughly half of the couple's combined wealth. The reality star has also moved on romantically, having married lawyer David C. Meyer last 2018.

Camille and Kelsey have two children together, a daughter named Mason who is 21 years old, and a son named Jude who is 18 years old. Despite the reported $30 million settlement Camille received after the couple split up, she was still legally entitled to receive child support for their youngest child up until he recently turned 18 in 2023.

Halle Berry has to pay her teen daughter Nahla's father, Gabriel Aubry, $16,000 per month in child support after the couple's bitter divorce.

The star must pay Gabriel extra child support if her annual income is more than $1.95 million, and she must continue to cover Nahla's private school fees and health insurance. And she’s deeply unhappy about it.

On Saturday, Berry shared a quote on Instagram with the words "Women don't owe you sh*t," which sparked a heated discussion about stereotypical gender roles and stereotypes in the comments section.

Clearly, it worked because, as of March 1, 2021, her child support payments were reduced by half, making it $8,000 a month. However, she is still ordered to pay the remainder of the retroactive amount of $85,000. Yikes!

8 Andre “Dr. Dre” Young Pays Nicole Young $2.9M Every Year In Child Support

After being married for almost 25 years, Nicole Young filed for divorce from Andre "Dr. Dre" Young. According to Rolling Stone, more than 20% of Dr. Dre's $820 million fortune would need to be transferred to his soon-to-be ex-wife. The settlement was worth $100 million, with $100 million going to Nicole.

The Sun reports that Nicole is receiving $2.9 million less than she requested in spousal support. There was also word that Dre will pay a total of $3,519,672 per year until Nicole remarries or "enters a new domestic partnership."

They have a 24-year-old son named Truice and a 20-year-old daughter named Truly, so issues of custody and child support are moot. But my, that's massive yearly pay-out is worth noting.
